So I have this week off from work and after beating Arkham Asylum (finally) and then a run through the campaign in Battlefield 3. (which I liked a lot by, the way) I decided to do some online multi player gaming. I am not hard core. Quite average, at best, with some good games and some bad games. I don't play a lot so that's probably half my problem, I am more of a RPGer, sports and Racer guy.

I fired up BC 2 and had a blast for a whole night. I am only level 30 so you can tell I am not into it a lot. So I figured I would go and play some Battlefield 3, which I am level 17... not so much fun. I honestly expected there would be some improvements by now but there doesn't seem to be any. Laggy, rubber banding and hit detection is horrible. I hit an enemy with at least a few shots and they are still at 100% after killing me, this happened at least once or twice per game.

I thought they were gonna make huge maps with more vehicles to be honest. I find myself standing in the base waiting for vehicles or simply running to a point. Team play should be more of an emphasis but most times players jump in a vehicle and take off when there are several others running towards them to get in. No one ever waits for me to repair their vehicle and I am left running behind them with no cover, most times getting killed in the process. Many of these same issues are in BC 2 but at least in that game it's easier to find cover or get to point A, B or C. Many places in BF 3 are wide open for a great distance, Caspian Border comes to mind.

What is up with jumping over a set of steps or a rock and getting hung up on it half the time? It's ridiculous. I am moving in that direction and jumping yet somehow, it won't go over it until the 2nd or 3rd try.

The game is beautiful at high settings on my rig but it doesn't make up for the fact that the game just does not play well. I don't have the expansion pack and I doubt I will buy it for this game. I honestly hate using Origin and a web browser to play a video game. It's just wrong to me and it doesn't even work very well. Load times are pathetic due to having to start, stop, restart the game constantly. Instead of just being able to switch servers in game, I have to go out of game then browse for a server then wait for the long load time again. I spend less time playing in this game than any other in history, lol.

Oh well, rant over, what's your opinion?

Expansion maps are the only ones i play, they are just much better made. Dont even talk about the singleplayer tongue.gif, Battlefield is all about Multiplayer. Well BC2 is still a great game but i still prefer BF3 over it.

BF3 is less laggy for me and has better hit detection.... try playing a on lower ping server and adjust the hit detection option in your settings.

Team play is fine.... just join a clan. My issue is that squad chat doesn't exist.

Caspian Border isn't that open.
Once again...

I think the whole problem with BF3 is it was over hyped! It is a ok gamer but it is definitely not the greatest fps ever!
As far as the rubberbanding and lag issues they were all fixed in the last patch for me maybe something is up with your router or isp? Acouple of my freinds had some connection issues with this game so they bought a new router problem fixed! (they had old routers like 5 years old) Also if your lookin for a clan we are lookin for members check us out at www.ntdgaming.com we are in to having fun no drama just a good time with freinds!

BF3>BC2 all day, Bc2 was trash of a game....
I agree that there are some issues with the game but give it a little time, bc2 recieced nearly 80,000 fixes modifications and minor tweaks to get it where it is now. And the laggy cam when you get killed is your internet and your game settings. Go into options and turn the network buffer down some, helps a lot. And players on your team being tarded is just a part of the 1st year hype. Tons of players switching to battlefield that dont understand the game, full auto dropping a whole mag at 500 meters instead of controled bursts to allow the recoil to reset, what pisses me off is when you have 12 noobs(which i can tollerate) that dont get in squads and continue to spawn at the main base(cant tollerate). Noobs gonna be noobs till they give up and sham snipe round after round going 4 and 3.

Rules of battlefield:

Join a squad
spawn in the fight or at least near it.
Maneuver through the area, dont run through the open to be a sniper snack.
Define your abilities, dont main support class because you want to use mortars and cant use em worth crap.(im medic/engineer)
find a weapon that works for you(mine is the ump-45)
Dont take a vic if you cant drive or fly or even figure out how to steer them.
Keep moving.
Use the spot command, its too easy, if you see enemy outside of your accuracy range send a spot report, let friendlies in the area know that theyre there.

Ok now for what i think is crap about the game itself. You cant enter every building in the game, you cant destroy nearly as much as you could in bc2. Auto balance is bs, only swaps the lowesr scoring players. Well aimed 40mm rounds should do more damage, ditto for rpgs etc, tracks/wheels engine crow turret, each should have a percentag from the main portion of the vic and be able to be disabled individually.

Things that can improve your scoring:

The rules listed above
turning the graphics down. Camo works really good in high graphics settings, and there is a lot more brush to hide in.
Use a headset, listening through your computer speajers dosnt yield the same awareness, you can hear footsteps and a general direction to suppressed fire and commands being yelled.

I loved BC2 (platted ALL weapons, even the Specact ones), but BF3 just seems to have a much smoother flow to things. I played it last night after a two week break from it. Everything ran buttery smooth, animations were all fluid, I had squads that wouldn't stack specialties on top of each other, squads that played well together for the most part, and a team focused on objectives and tactical warfare as opposed to nubs sitting in the spawn throwing out mortars or camping in until there was nothing left for them.

BF3 campaign? Meh. It's mediocre, the best part of it was on the train. The multiplayer though, nothing out their beats it in the FPS genre, imo. And, playing on servers with 60< ping is always good too.

My only gripe with BF3 is all of the desert/middle eastern maps. I want some snow maps like BC2!!! Maybe another night map as well.
