Q>Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset w/ onboard sound on my x58 board

I'm in the middle of a pc upgrade and just found a really good deal 5000 PH peso or about 100USD on a brand new psyko 5.1 gaming headset.

from what I've read this are true 5.1 surround headphones. not the virtual 5.1/7.1 that some have.

now my question is how would it perform with only the onboard sound on my motherboard. I've been budgeting my upgrade and I can't afford to get a sound card now. will the sound quality be okay without a sound card? my motherboard is a Gigabyte x58-a UD3r which supports 5.1

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#sp

TIA OCN! God bless

I had one of these but I did not try it out of the audio out on my UD3R (used Creative Titanium). It has very good positioning, you have to get used to the center channel being in front of your nose, the sound quality is meh due to the sound traveling down the rails, since its 5.1 already you dont need any additional processing for games. Also, anyone in the room with you will hear whats going on, it has no isolation. I had no problems with using it for gaming but its not good for movies and music due to the reduced sound quality.

ty for the replies guys + reps given. I'm no audiophile and had been using generic 2.1 speakers that souds like crap tongue.gif

the price on the 5.1 headsets are attractive. as juggalo said I tried getting other headsets but unfortunately they're too expensive and the decent one's are way out of my price range.

I only use my pc on gaming. I don't listen to music at all and I watch movies on my htpc. would the psyko be a good headset for me? like my question earlier I'm only gonna use it on the onboard sound on my motherboard.

this is the shop I was gonna buy headsets from (dunno if I can post this tell me so i can delete it) the psyko 5.1 is 5000 philippine peso(found a guy selling this on this same site here's the link http://www.tipidpc.com/viewitem.php?iid=10779733 ) if you see the other headsets the prices are really expensive. the similarly priced one's look like crap. they have a decent lineup of headsets, you guys can recommend me something that is better. maybe I can spend upto 6000 pesos

this shop is about 30 minutes drive away from here. I'm only waiting for inputs from you guys. I'm ready to buy it now tongue.gif I'm also a call away from the psyko 5.1 headphone seller. I can pick it up from his house which is really close from here

pulled the trigger on the psyko 5.1 headset. works great with the onboard sound on my board. really immersive esp in gaming. I can literally here the foot steps and gun shots from behind. so if anyone wants to try it with their on board sound card i'd say go for it. it works great

If you decide to get them, why not pick up a Xonar DG. They can often be purchased for under $20 around here, I'm not sure how much it would cost you but it's worth looking in to. The Xonar DG made a night and day difference in the sound quality of my Sennheisers.

I'm using the headset right now. kinda ruined my blue/black theme but works great even with onboard sound. makes me wonder how it will perform with a decent discrete soundcard. damn I think I'm gonna spend more again lol

so impressed with the onboard performance I'm itching to get a decent soundcard to see how it will sound. I'd prolly get a cheap asus 5.1 headphone amplifier in a few days.
