Can I use an old Pentium 4 524 hyper thread processor with a gigabyte ga-g41m-es2l socket 775 motherboard?

For some reason it is rejecting it

It is supported via the Gigabtye website info for the board.. On all versions of the board and in the first BIOS release F6. Did you reset the CMOS after?

yes I took out the cmos battery from a few minutes to hours and still no post, I disconnected all unnecessary i/o like hard drives and optical drives and still no post. I took out the processor and put it back into its old motherboard and it worked.
I even used a different power supply and same no post.
I changed the ram still no post, I only used on dimm and changed the position of it, still no post.

Do motherboards have specific power requirements? like gpus and cpus?

Anyways my next step is to test the motherboard with a different cpu but I can't be asked taking out my cpu I have no thermal paste left frown.gif

Maybe gigabyte are lying about support that particular cpu. I really dont know what to do now.
