I just built this PC this past summer with no problems. I'm trying to do an Acronis system image backup to a hard drive plugged into my case's bult in hot swap bay. The hard drive is an older Seagate Barracuda pulled from the FreeAgent Pro (Classic) that runs at 7200rpm--1TB drive. I only started hearing these mysterious clicking sounds about half an hour into the backup. I herd nothing when I plugged the drive in, or even copied and pasted (2GB) files onto it.

The sound actually almost sounds like a dripping, or trickling water. My room is right next to our bathroom so I thought I left the tap lightly on, but nope. I put my ear right next to the PSU, and it sure enough was coming from there. The sound stops when I stop the backup...

I've used this hot swap drive bay on several occasions before, with no issues. My only thought is that because this drive is older, it is probably much less power efficient. And during a backup, it revs up to full speed. So could it be that, I am at the limit of my PSU? I for sure thought I had enough power for my setup.

I have the XFX PRO550W PSU (80 Plus Bronze) All the other hardware I have is as follows:
• stock clock GTX 560 Ti
• 4.4GHz overclocked i5-2500k
• 1 500GB HDD 7200rpm
• 1 Standard Optical
• PCI TV card
• x2 140mm fan, x2 120mm fan (one on cooler, other on case)
• And some small USB-powered devices i.e. a tablet, mouse, keyboard, & game controller

Like I said, I've never herd this sound before, and I notice it only happens about 15 minutes or so into this PC backup. I haven't ever changed anything, or added any fans/system devices since the initial build this past summer.

**EDIT**
I externally powered the HDD (but running direct SATA) and about 15 minutes into the backup, I've herd it only a few times, but much less frequently than when it was powered from the hot-swap bay.

What could this mean??
