Downgrading firmware has been suggested by some as a possible fix for various issues. However, doing so will cause the drive to be unusable, and also voids your Crucial SSD product warranty. Please do not attempt to downgrade (a.k.a. down rev) the firmware from version 0006 to version 0002. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact our Technical Support department.
disclaimer from the Crucial Firmware d/l page...
So, am i to understand, that we download the firmware flash to fix Crucial's foul up of the M4s and in doing so void our warranty?????????? WT*???
Negative. If you read again you'll notice that they say that some people have been DOWNGRADING
to older firmware to fix the problem. That's what voids the warranty, not the UPGRADE
. Having them void your warranty for upgrading official firmware is just ridiculous.
Hope that clears up you confusion.
edit * OOPS! it seems teh CSM has answered you question already. oh well.
In other news, where o where have all the h8trz gone? They were SO happy and willing to join the "Bash Crucial" bandwagon!! Until they saw it was going down a very deep precipice. Where is all that enthusiasm now? Edited by wanako - 1/14/12 at 11:04pm
