Best video card for Nvidia Surround - Page 2

Sadly I've only got $550 so 570s are out of my budget frown.gif

Now THAT sounds temptating... they're supposed to go out January 9 right? Benchies should be out soon... but hows going to be availability?
I need to choose soon because someone is going to buy my 560 for a really good price but limited time offer.

Thank you everyone for your answers! +Rep smile.gif

don't forget something important if you go with AMD. You NEED an active display port/mini-displayport to dvi adapter. If your screen doesn't support it by himself. Don't go for a cheap crappy port, i did it with two HD 6950 and i paid 40$ for it. yea it's cheap... thoses adapter are expensive. And it was doa ( xfx adapter sux, tons of bad review i didn't searched for before pursaching).

You should get a mini-dp with usb power. it's 120$ but it does work...

This ^

lol why didn't you think about this if your budget is $550 biggrin.gif one 7970 out performs two 560Ti's lawl and amd has always been the multi monitor people (well its not to say people don't do it with nvidia but you only need one card to do it)

the 2 560Ti's should be good but I would recommend the 7970 as its around $500 in america I think?

Benchmarks are everywhere for 7970, here http://www.overclock.net/t/1187504/dh-7970-benchmark-galore

As for the Eyefinity, it supports only two legacy devices, the combination of HDMI, DVI or VGA. The third monitor must have native DisplayPort or you will need an active adapter.

This is the adapter and it costs $29.28 You only need one if your monitor has no DisplayPort input.

wut?? i'd need 2 of them since none of my monitors has dp port, nor hdmi... that would be $60 USD more... sad story frown.gif i dont have the budget. besides i want to be able to use a 4th monitor ( yeah i love monitors biggrin.gif ) (i think the 4th monitor only works out of surround mode... am i right?) and i dont have a hdmi to dvi cable so that would be like another $7 more (does the 7970 even allows 4 monitors?)

Thanks everyone!

If your monitor has DVI, you will not need to buy any adapter at all.

7970 has 1 DVI, 1 HDMI and 2 Mini DisplayPort outputs and it comes with all the adapter.

This will be your monitor setup.

Monitor #1, DVI > DVI > 7970.

Monitor #2, DVI > DVI - HDMI Cable > 7970 (included).

Monitor #3, DVI > DVI - MiniDP Active Adapter > 7970 (included).

You only need to buy one for the fourth monitor.

Ok that would be nice! [+Rep] and can the 7970 drive 4 monitors simultaneously?

And does anyone have advice on importing stuff to mexico?? im checking and i would have to pay around $100 more for taxes and shipping and thats a lot.

Thank you!

Yes, the reference design 7970 can drive 4 monitors simultaneuosly and the non-reference Eyefinity 6 maximum 6 monitors.
