However many of the Ambassadors are simply gamers that have been around a long time and have volunteered their time to help out the small guy

They used to be select members of Xbox Live that were designated as Ambassadors of the service to help newer members learn the ropes around the service and forums. They were handpicked  in waves by Trixie who used to be the community manager.

A few years back it was a good way of knowing who was a reputable member of the service that could be looked up to. Nowadays anyone can get it by applying for it. It's a pretty worthless title seems any old rabble can potentially be granted the status of Xbox Live Ambassador. It also got merged with the Xpert program. Since DMZilla took over the role of community manager anything to do with that community pretty much went downhill.

Yah Xbox is full of hackers right now, I actually just had my account hacked so i locked down all of my accounts. My friend said there was something wrong when I was "online" on my xbox that I hadn't played in over a year and a half, playing Fifa 12, where I don't even own a sports game. I had like 600 points on that account, that dude spent them, on what? No clue but who cares its 600 points.

Between credit card companies and MS CS I would think the majority of the transactions would be covered.

The thing is i dont have a xbox, only have a account for when i had a Zune and for Games for Windows Live. Luckily they credited me back in 2 weeks.
almost the exact same thing happened to me...

while just randomly browsing on my computer... my phone (synced with google) buzzed to signal a new email... and I see "Games for Live" has charged ~80$ for Microsoft points...

then I wonder... how!?
I go onto the gfwl website, and check my account status, then indeed points were charged... I called Microsoft, the person was checking the account, when WHILE ON THE PHONE with her, this guy charged another 30ish$ onto the account... and it was immediate she knew something wasn't right... so I unlinked my CC with the account to prevent further charges

so then like you, she asked me for my Xbox serial... I laughed and I said I don't own one and never had one... I only made an account for GFWL games... which is all the more why it's stupid to be charged on a XBOX...

later told me to contact my credit card support to make an appeal, which now they refunded all the charges (which totaled ~140$)

after the call, I noticed he spent a few points buying some things (you can see in your account history)

of course, it goes without saying, I closed down the account which I don't even use at all...

oh for anyone wondering... *I thought about it too...* why I have my CC linked with an account I hardly ever use or buy anything with in the first place... I just remembered I bought Age of Empire 3 and its expansion packs all together for 10 cents the other time they had the sale... that was probably it...

why only refund? they should pay another $50 for damages (wasting your time)

That's why you have an American Express. Don't even have to call MS. Just call AM, get the charges reversed in less than five minutes, block off communications with MS with that card, done. I have had the same thing happen to me, and I went straight to American Express.
