I recently started a thread about which mechanical keyboard I should get, and was recommended the Corsair K90. But after reading all the good things about the Ducky Shine, I'm considering that keyboard instead. Is this a no-brainer and I should just go with the Ducky Shine (since I can choose which switches I want)? I haven't found too many good things about the Corsair K90, compared to the Ducky keyboards.

The only real requirements I'm having for a new keyboard is that its a mechanical and backlit keyboard, and will be used mostly for gaming with some typing.

Wrong forum to ask this question redface.gif.

If you don't mind the F1-F12, Ins/Del/Pup/Pdown etc keys, as well as the macro keys not being mechanical, then you wont have any problems.

If you're just a traditional WASD + mouse gamer and will be using the macros as optional addition to your gameplay, rather than the main part of it, you shouldn't have problems.

It all depends on what you want out of the keyboard.

Personally I just don't see the merit in all those macro keys. I've never used more than 5, but that's just me. For overall quality I'd just go with the Ducky, it'd be rare to see any other recommendations.

Oh sorry I didn't know I posted in the wrong area. I'm fairly new to posting on this site and I haven't really bought a keyboard in general, so I'm new in both of these areas.

My Ducky Shine OCN edition came in the mail last night. I purchased it to replace an Xarmor U9BL-S. I also own a Das Ultimate Silent, and have previously owned a Steelseries 6gv2. I can say without a doubt that the Ducky's quality and features are unmatched by any backlit mechanical board I've seen to date. I was incredibly impressed with how well put together the product is, from the font on the keys to the options for backlighting. Go with the Ducky, you won't regret it.

I have a k90 and love it. The cherry reds feel different on this board than any other cherry red board I have owned. Definitely became my favorite board

You can get the Ducky with Reds, I think he's looking for a more compelling argument than switch type.

I own both a Corsair K90 and a Ducky shine with cherry browns. For gaming alone, I choose the K90. The Ducky is a higher quality build than the K90, but the K90 ain't a cheap piece of plastic either.
Personal preference will win in the end, either way you choose you'll be happy!
