TotalN00b question: What is the best "cheapo" headset in the market today?

New to the forums please forgive mistakes.

I don't own a headset with a mic as of the moment. I only have a Pioneer SE-M285TV stereo headphones I won in a raffle. The headphones just recently gave up. The plastic cracked and the right ear part is hanging loose like a partially severed chicken head. I could still fix it with superglue but I thought it is time I bought some decent to slightly decent headset.

I previously owned a logitech clearchat headset. Great volume for a cheapo price. I am thinking of getting another one since they are so cheap now and for a headset it has very good volume.

I don't know much about audio and I am not an audiophile (not sure if that is how you call it). I am also not that type who will get beats audio or soul -- personally i think its a crazy waste of money since the headphones might be great in reproducing sound but who knows if your ears still are good at hearing? You might just be like a person suffering from glaucoma buying a Samsung 3D HDTV - hope you get my analogy.

So the question is : What is the best "relatively cheap" headset in the market?

I use my headset for games and "cough" movies. Sometimes for music but not always the high quality mp3 types - more of just youtube quality.

I'm thinking corsair vengeance - they aren't really cheap but compared to other headphones in the market they are relatively cheap.

Pin your suggestions folks! And hopefully I can find a retailer here in the remote island I am from.

I just got the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 and have been pleasantly surprised. I was originally planning on getting the Siberia V2 or Logitech G35/G930 but ultimately decided I really didn't want to spend that much on a headset.

Cheapest : this headset.
A bit better : this headset.

I own the 777 edition and it's fake 5.1 is not bad at all.

Not the best indeed but pretty much everything I need.

the 367-377 are pretty good too, I just have no clue about the open/closed ear thinggy,

I've owned the 377 and it was once again pretty decent and big which I like.

Not looking for plain headphones, I need a mic for trash talking in dota 2 and probably other online games. smile.gif

Nice headset suggestions. I doubt I can find any of those plantronics in any local retailers.

But those are mostly headphones right? I need something with a mic. I'm not really interested in seeing the expensive headphones either. Looking for a decent cheapo to an average decent cheapo headset. Those you normally find in the 20-40USD range only.

Buy a pair of headphones and a zalman mic the zalman mic is much better for trash talking your opponents as it is of much better qualityt han the junk that comes attached to the headsets.

I have been using a Plantronics Gamecom 377 for about a year now. I like the the price to performance ratio on this headset. I know its not the best but the mic quality is great, sound for game's is pretty good, they are comfy during long play sessions. The wife even blasts techno though them on a regular basis and they still have not blown out. Well worth the money IMO.
