ASUS P8Z68 Pro Gen 3... JMircon JMB36X driver required?

I installed this from the DVD that came with my mobo. When I boot I get an ASUS screen then a screen that says...

"JMicron Tech. Corp......blah blah blah"
"Detecting Drives: No drives found!"

This screen lasts for like a half second, then goes to another ASUS screen, then to Windows boot logo.

Do I need this JMircon driver? Doesn't seem to be doing anything other than adding to my boot time. In device manager my Samsung 830 SSD driver is listed as a Microsoft driver version 6.1.7600.16385 as well as my Velociraptor HDD.

I just installed the same board 2 days ago and I get the same message. It doesn't seem like it does anything but it is annoying.

JMicron controls the eSATA ports so if you don't use them you can disable it. It'll be under 'onboard sata controller' in the bios. I did this on my Rampage III Formula.

Thanks! I do have an external hard drive that is waiting for an esata cable. I'll let it enabled for now. Will the Windows driver be OK for the esata hard drive?

I got my estat cable and hooked up my My Book Home external HD. I have an issue though... after a period of time... 5-20 mins I lose connection with My Book. I have to unplug it and rescan for it. It shows up for a bit then disappears again.

The external is a FAT32 drive while everything else on my PC is NTFS. Does that matter?

I have the JMicron driver installed... maybe that is the issue?

Did you install the driver from the CD? If so try going to directly to JMicron and getting the latest drivers. Sometimes they fix problems like that in later driver revisions. I know the early NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 drivers had a similar problem that you described, later driver versions fixed it.

Yep. I installed the latest from JMicron's website and everything seems ok now. I switched cables also, but I do not think that was the issue. I'm happy... esata is soooo much faster than USB 2.0.

Just go here: The root of JMicrons drivers public FTP folder ---- or try one of these (it has to be one of following): Drivers for JMB36X eSATA or this one: Download this one or the other . ~Monte thumb.gif
