Intel hd 3000

Ok, im a frist time builder on a budget. please take a second before passing his off as "just intagreated". All i play is minecraft, civilaztion, WoW and some starcraft. Anything else is bonus it this point. All i really what is playable frame rites. A dont care about the settings, i just want playable frame rites. Ive asked this question before and never gottin a non-biased answer, from intel "it can do anything" and from most gaming sites, "it is uncapable of running aero". So, can i play these 4 games on any setting and get playable profromence? I can always add a gpu later if i get more into it, so for now just these 4 games.

All the games that you mention are pretty old, the HD3000 IGP will be able to play all of them. WoW is going to be the most taxing game, and you should be able to achieve medium-high settings dependent on resolution.

I am capable of high settings with low shadows on my laptop with a an I3-2310 and the HD3000 IGP. I gotta believe that the desktop variant performs slightly better due to a stronger processor. The HD3000 performs similar to the desktop version of the HD5450 video card(AMD). http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-3000.37948.0.html

Thanks. Thats really all a play, a need the cpu power and sandy bridge but not really for gaming. Right now im looking at an i3 2105 or maybe the i5. Its actully been hard to get a real anwser, like a said intel is like it can anything and gamers r like it sucks. If i can play those im good, the machine is for that manging all my music and vid, itunes, general use and folding, plus im one of those people who really jump to beta software. Thank again!

You're fine. I use a MacBook Air as my primary machine for various projects and Starcraft runs like a dream on medium-low settings. WoW will work fine at around medium settings (1366x768 or less). Civ5 can be taxing, but low should work.

Folding performance without a GPU is not that great, however.

Thats ok. I really fold to 'do good' and help my team; not really to show off. If i did get a gpu it would b an amd anyway, (i like them better) and from what i read they dont fold well anyway.

That is because folding is not optimized for AMD (Stanford only has volunteers for AMD/OpenCL).

Yeah i know. If i get a 2500k, can someone give me a good cheap mobo to use it with? Im talkin sub 150, better if sub 130. I want to overclock in the future, so im looking at z68, of chorse. One thing i want the most is reliability.

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3, really the only MB you should consider in that price range.
