you would get a significant performance boost from overclocking your cpu.....you will need an aftermarket cooler...the hyper 212+ evo is inexpensive but a good performer. You wouldn't need to do anything extreme, just clock it up as best you can and overclock cpu/nb and you won't be disappointed thumb.gif

you're kidding right? the 1055T has 6 cores man. Even if you run it at 1 Ghz, the green drive will still be the bottleneck

the WesternDigital "green" is the super bottleneck in your system.
"green" harddrives are meant for backup/storage because of its low power and low rpm.

Buy a 7200rpm HDD for your primary drive or OS

Nope, your CPU is not a bottleneck to anything right now, at least not any significant bottleneck anyway. If you were running a faster video card, then I would say that you would need to OC that thing up into at least the mid 3GHz range to keep up with it. As it is, you should be fine.

I have a 720BE running at stock speed right now (miniITX board, don't want to kill the VRMs overclocking), and it keeps up just fine with my 5770. Your 6850 isn't tons faster than the 5770, so you should be just about fine as well.

That said, I would still OC your 1055T a bit, but more out of principle, rather than any specific need (gaming wise anyway).

Now, are you having any specific problems that make it feel slow? Because even if the computer is feeling slow, its not always (or even often) the CPU that makes it feel that way.

Honestly for the price right now it would make more sense to get a SSD and use the WD green as a backup drive.

Edit: what is your budget?

I'm not that familiar with the OP's current HDD but would his best option be to get another one and raid them?
