[RPS] The Quest for Dark Souls on PC

Quite a few people have sent me this link to a forum post in which a Namco employee suggests that has to be “demand” for a PC version of acclaimed console RPG Dark Souls, if it is to show up on the one true format. It seems to me that Namco decided there wasn’t demand, of course, because the game has so far only turned up on the TV boxes. That strikes me as a little strange, especially when you consider that historically-speaking PC gamers are VERY interested in making armoured men hit fantasy enemies with swords and sharp sticks.

A dedicated fan has set up a petition to make clear the demand for Dark Souls on PC. So far it has gathered over 24,000 signatures in under 24 hours thanks to several gaming news sites and even Total Biscuit (video below) reporting on it.

Signed. Although I'm tempted to go down to my local Game shop and pick up a copy for Xbox. I've a few gift cards so that might give me something to use them on.

You know, I love me some Dark Souls, but I don't really see the point of a PC port unless they did the proper thing and enhanced the graphics significantly to take advantage of the PC's strong points. The controls are simple and the perspective is third person. There's little here for a PC gamer to do other than crank up the resolution and maybe try to break the game through hacking/modding. I'm going to sign the petition anyway just to show them that there is a market for that series on the PC the next go round, but I already own this game, and unless the publisher orders uncommonly special treatment of the port, I doubt I would pay for it again.
