Looking for HDD, is there any difference in gameplay recording between 32MB/64MB cashe?

I was thinking to get this one: Seagate 1TB 7200 RPM, 32MB SATA III

I want to record from my disc c:\ : Western Digital Caviar Black 1000GB 7200 RPM, 64MB to Seagate 1TB 7200 RPM, 32MB SATA III

Will i see a notable difference(while recording gameplay) between 32MB Cashe vs 64MB? Will the recording be the same?

Any suggestions are more than welcomed.

Think i will buy this HDD:
Seagate 2TB Barracuda ST2000DM001

32MB vs 64MB cache, I doubt there will be a difference.

As for just recording to a separate drive in general, yes there will be a noticeable difference. smile.gif

Record to a RAM disk and copy it to the permanent storage (HDD) when you're done! wink.gif

Hey I just found another possible use for a RAM disk biggrin.gif

In all seriousness, I second the above ^

Go for it. Larger HDDs make better FRAPS drives.

hdtuneproahcibenchmarkv.png

What resolution are you recording at? 1080p apparently needs something like 90-100MB/sec.

That Seagate 2TB will be faster than this WD Green. Run an HDTune benchmark on the drive when you first get it, then partition a certain amount of space for recording. Probably about 40-60% would be good. (800-1200GB) Then partition the rest for archiving. You record to the first partition (the faster one) and then encode/edit and archive on the second. thumb.gif

Note: This is a read benchmark. You should run a write benchmark on the drive, before filling it with anything. I couldn't because I already had data on the drive.

Edit: After getting the drive, go into your device manager and enable all write caching for it.

Thanks for the info, i got Seagate 2TB after all, gonna make all the tests asap.
About the partitions, do i really have to make them? If i leave it with only 1 partition will it be fine?
