Overclock E6300? How?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, i have an intel e6300 and an msi p965 neo. my memory is 2 x 512 kingston value ram 667. i want to know how much is the highest safe overclocking point i can reach with the stock intel cooler.

Also i see in cpu-z that my core is running at 1597.3 why is that?

is there anything i have to change in bios to make my system go faster?

Thank You!

Power Settings --> Home/Office Desktop

In Vista the multi would vary between 6 and 7, until I set it to high performance (The Vista equivalent).... I too looked in BIOS and it was set to 7x.

As for the OC question, you should do some reading as to safely overclocking your system; there are many FAQs that will help on this site. The short version is when you increase FSB speed in BIOS you're increasing overall performance.... but I'm oversimplifing (sp?)

Enjoy your stay at Overclock.net,

Jimmy

hi jimmy, thanks for your reply.

i checked it in my windwos xp, and it was set to home/office, i tried to put it in "always on", and when i check with cpuz it sometimes change from 6 to 7 and vary.

i want to know if i can put it fixed in 7 to avoid that slow performnace.

Thank you!

People can only give you a ruff estimate of what kinda clock speeds you can reach, but every system is different, so the only way to find out is to get after it. Have a browse through some of these links, there is a wealth of info in each and everyone!!

you should be able to oc a lot more than that. Even with stock cooling. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h187/roger956/2.jpg
Im at 2.94 with stock cooling. The only thing that helps me out a lot is my motherboard and ram that are awsome for overclocking. I dont know about that value ram or that MSI board. But your should be able to oc to at least 2.7

Actually, you have the features of C1E and/or ESIT enabled, that's why you see a x6 multi there.

I also have those features enabled in the BIOS and when the system is idling, the multi goes to x6, so 333x9 for full load or any type of load down to 333x6 when the system idles, like web-browsing only. Power saving features, from 3.0ghz down to 2.0ghz.

You can disabled those features in the BIOS, C1E and EIST. Now you can start overclocking that E6300, but from what I've seen the MSI boards are very crappy for overclocking, so good luck.

P.S. On that screen shot of your desktop, is that somewhere in your country/city?

Thanks!

That solved my problem!!!!

Now i'll try to start overclocking my core 2 duo.

Other thing, i als read that the memory and cpu is better to have it at 1:1, is that correct? mine now is at

FSB-DRAM 4:5
CAS latency 5 clocks
ras ti cas 5 clocks
ras precharge 5 clocks
cycle time 15 clocks

The photo on the back si boston from the prudential building. If you want it, tell me!
