Sapphire HD6850 **2GB** just got released on newegg!

So I now have 2 rigs with a Sapphire 6850 1gb in them (was crossfired but split them up) and Im in the market again for another for my main rig and saw this on newegg. What benefit would the extra GB have on this high/midrange-low/highend(depending opn how you look at it) card. Could I crossfir the 2gb version with my 1 gb version? I have mine clocked to 935/1135 now with 1.18 volts. Is it worth the extra $$$ also jsut noticed that Newegg doesn't have the regular 1gb version (just the toxic) and I do not need all those display ports.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102959

Id like to see some benches on this compared to its 1gb brother. sweeeeeet

You can but you still only have 1 GB total for Crossfire. To fully use 2 GB both card must have 2 GB VRAM.

Ah boo thats not what I wanted to hear lol. I kind of figured though. I sure wish these were out 3 months ago. 2 hd6850 1gb in crossfire are as powerful as 1 6970. I can imagine having 2, 2gb versions. Anyways thanks for the quick response! smile.gif

Had a question. I was doing a little research and noticed PowerColor makes dual gpu cards. Im not talking about the hd6990. Im talking HD6850x2, HD6870x2 and HD6970x2. Did they ever release the hd6970x2 and if so was it better then the hd6990? Asking because the HD6870x2 reviews I saw it was beating out the hd6950 in crossfire!!

the 6870X2 in trifire with another 6870 almost as fast as 1 1/2 580's, most SLI 580's i seen did like 45k avg in GPU Score the 6870 trifire with a 6850 in trifire did 38k in Vantage if it was a 6870 it could of protentially crack 40k Vantage the 6870X2 on it's own is 30k Vantage. pretty good scores for the 6870's the 6870X2 has bad microstutter tho so only get it if you are going to use another 6870 cause that 6870 added actually minimizes it by nearly 80-85% by Toms microstutter testing and the Power Requirements are pretty impressive to 650-680 watts so need a 850watts for overclocking biggrin.gif

hey thanks for the input! But what about the 6970X2 (not the 6990 or 2 separate cards) just talking about one card with 2 6970 gpus on it.

CF 6850's 1GB become a bit of a bottleneck for BF3 at 1080 on the back to karkand maps.
2GB versions cross fired would be a bit better, I imagine it would stop the massive frame rate drop when you spin around wildly looking in to the distance.
Not really worth the money IMO tho.

the 2GB 6850 is worth it if you have 3 or more monitors.
Mine is running eyefinity by itself smile.gif
