Cheers! Great to hear that you manage to get some look forward to the results.... This type of Filter i would happily recommend to all caselab users due to its thickness it has a far larger surface area that is capable of picking up tons of dust without stopping air flow. Used these on my old lian li case PC-A20 worked great didn't clean them for a year and really very little dust inside the case with still great flow! smile.gif
And to clean them just wash them out under a tap!

Try using Central air filters. Get a few kind, cut them up, and make them fit.


If its good enough for your house, it should be good for your PC. You can even get the cheap kind that maximize airflow.

I'v found they tend to be quite thick, hard to attach which unfortunately makes them hard to use...

I have a sample pack of reticulated foam from H-O Products:

Comparing these samples it seems the Lian-Li foam insert in their AF12-2 & AF14-2 filters is a near exact match for the 10ppi (pores per inch) sample. The Lian Li insert is a bit thicker than the H-O 1/4" material, which may make the Lian Li appear slightly denser than the 10ppi sample in the photo.

Here is a photo with H-O Products samples along the top from right to left 10ppi, 20ppi, and 30ppi, with the Lian Li AF14-2 at the bottom.

All three samples seem to have good air flow, but I don't have a device to measure that. Obviously, as you go from 10ppi to 30ppi you will trade air flow for filtration. One benefit of the 30ppi filter is that the material is more widely available and available in a wider variety of thickness and quantity.

I've not decided if I'm going this route, just doing research at this point.

Regarding mounting: My first great enclosure was a PC Power & Cooling "Solid Steel Full Tower" -- I think it was made by California PC -- that I purchased back in the mid-1990s. The front filter is 20ppi reticulated foam. The filter itself lasted about 15 years of continuous use through several cleanings. The filter is secured to the front panel with black plastic posts inserted into a plastic socket. The socket fits in a 6-32 clearance hole.

Here is a photo.

Below the head, the post measures about 9mm long and 2mm dia. The head is about 8mm dia. These posts fiction fit into the socket and have worked well over 15 years. I have no idea what they are called or where to get them. I'll try to contact the original manufacturer to see if they can give me a source. If anyone else recognizes these posts, please let me know.
