[Build Log] Should madness have limit? "TH10 + Pedestal + Extravagant Watercooling"

Hi Guys...

I am new to overclock.net. I am mostly in evga forums but heard good things about this forum and how helpful and knowledgeable people here are. So I thought I will show you what I am doing with my new build and try to get some suggestions/questions answered in the process. Hope you guys like my build. Any constructive comments are welcome!smile.gif

This build will be based on Z68/SB and not SB-E/LGA 2011. I did think about SB-E but after reading lot of reviews it seems SB-E are good for media/video editing etc and not so much for gaming...I will be using my computer mainly for gaming/browsing and may be some cad stuff...so I thought Z68 would be good for me. And once Ivy comes out I will jump towards that.

This will be an example of madness and of course there will be no limit...in a good way though;)

Here are list of some main components that I will be using. I will add/delete stuff as the build progresses. thumb.gif

3)Tubing - Tygon R3603 Clear 1/2 inch ID 3/4 inch OD

These are the storage I will be using:

1)OCZ RevoDrive X2 160GB PCIE SSD for OS
2)OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD for games
3)WD Caviar Black 1TB for general storage.

I first started my work on the pedestal...sure to say its just beautiful. The TH10 itself is huge and after putting it on top of the pedestal makes it humongous!

I installed two XSPC RX480 QUAD rads inside the pedestal. Both rads will be in push/pull configuration. So I installed total 16 Scythe GT AP15s. Water will come from the dual MCP655 pumps in series and enter one radiator from the bottom port and come out from the top port. Water then will enter the 2nd rad again from the bottom port and finally come out from the top port and ultimately going to graphics card. I heard this set up will take the air out of the loop quickly. I will see how that works.

Some pics of the pedestal unit with the Rads installed with all 16 fans...

I also installed two 140 mm Xigmatek white LED fans on the back. These fans will suck air from inside the pedestal unit to outside. Idea is to get rid of the hot air from the pedestal as both 480 rads will intake fresh air from outside to cool water down. I didn't want hot air from pedestal to heat up components upstairs in the case.

That looks really sexy! smile.gif

Question, are the GTX 580's you are buying going to be 3gb versions? because if they aint, you will be bottlenecked by that with that monitor. (I am with my cards frown.gif )

You have 16 beastly fans taking air in and 2 half-decent fans taking air out.

Hmmmm.
