Decided to get this build log going, parts should start flowing in within the next couple of weeks, be ready for tons of pictures/updates when parts do actually start to arrive.

Originally i planned to do a x79 build. but had a moment of clarity when i realized i would not really be utilizing the system i had planned to its full potential due to not enough time etc. So i will be expanding on my current 1155 rig and will wait for Ivy Bridge later in the year.

Just wanted to give a shout out to a few people who helped me along the way in general and with questions about this build, first and foremost munaim1 for helping me realize a few things and not jumping the gun (i always have the problem of too much money and not a lot of sense) munaim1 helps me realize this on numerous occasions ha ha. Also a big shout out to Los Hog who has helped me and continues to help me with my water cooling questions. Thanks guys! thumb.gifbiggrin.gif

Here are the planned parts below, pretty happy with the selection, although as for the GPUs may just settle for the hydro copper classifieds and not the hydro copper classified ultras, depending on what comes into stock first.

BIG EDIT: At this point, the pure beastliness of the 7970s cannot be overlooked, these cards are just seemingly the bees knees, and that is coming from an Nvidia fanboy! I have strictly been nvidia foe close to 10 years!

Inspiration for the black and white build courtesy of one of my favorite bands Dimmu Borgir, this video sets the tone for the build quite nicely!

Now by all means the below pictures are just my leak testing, i will be moving everything into the rack later today...Although at first i did try and just mount everything into the rack with no planning....Bad idea, i wasted a lot of tubing, and a lot of patience....Ha ha ....Will be ordering the TJ11 later in the week, hopefully this practice run prepared me for looping in that beastly case....

Here is a video of the first power on, the pump is screaming as you can see, i was a bit annoyed and thought this is how loud the pump would be, as you will see in the next video that is definitely not the case!

Quick video showing how much quieter the pump became after a few minutes. A lot happier with this sound level!

First round of temps, pretty decent, i am very content with these results, i have a dog of a chip and it handled the high voltage for my 4.8 oc very well.

Ok guys here are a few pics of the process and end product of the loop moved into the test bench! Enjoy!

MSI 7970s arrived today 1/23/12

Well this is my first time ever with the red tide, here are some pics. I also ran a quick 3dm11 on P settings in single card and Xfire, single fetched close to an 8k score and Xfire fetched close to a 14k score, will play with overclocking more later in the week. Cant wait to get these babies wettttt!!!

One of the cards had a black pci-e connector , i am guessing that there is a theory that the cards that contain a black pci-e connector have a lower VID and thus, overclock better, we shall see! Stay tuned for some benching !!!

1-24-12 - New Ram came in today, i wanted something that would compliment the new build a little bit better than the plain looking Patriot g2, I stuck with Patriot and went with 4x4 modules of the Patriot Viper Extreme, the sticks are sexy to stay the least! Here are some pics for you all! Enjoy!

Can't waited to see how it'll look!! definitely subbed smile.gif

Have you bought everything? pics pics pics pics pics pics pics!!!!!!!! tongue.gif

Thanks for the shout out, appreciate it.

EDIT:

Question about fan controller:

I assume each channel is max output of 1amp right? That would be roughly 12w per channel. You really need 12 channels? lol

I think the Scythe Fan's are 0.34 amps at 12v so it would be around 4.2watts. You could have 2 fans per channel and only use 3 channels. Why not get a 6 channel controller with 30/40w output which would be enough like the Lamptron FC2 or the one I have, it's pretty decent (Akasa 6 channel controller) pics of it is in my sig - Sandy Transformed smile.gif

Even so with 30 or 40w per channel you can set it up similarly to mine:

206

Fan 1 and 4 on one channel
Fan 2 and 5 on one channel
Fan 3 and 6 on one channel

or even have all of them on one channel lol 6 fans = roughly 25w or as you're using 8 fans on the quad for push pull it'll be around 33w. tongue.gif

On a more serious note, I would probably do a 4 way splitter on a quad rad and only use two channels, no need to get a 12 channel controller, but that's up to you smile.gif

EDIT:

This is obviously assuming you get a 30w+ controller smile.gif
