My observation exactly about BIOS version 0906. In my case, it did that even after Windows was up and running. For days I was confronted by the message "Press F1 to recover BIOS" at post. I'd check the BIOS and find the boot priority changed, with my disk drive somehow ahead of my OS drive. And I did have problems installing Windows on my SSD, as well. I returned my previous board under the stipulations of its warranty and now have a new one set up. I considered a fresh install of Windows for the new board, but I had so much trouble the last time I decided against it.
Strange thing is, when I went to the Asus website to update the BIOS on the new board, BIOS version 0906 for the P9X79 Pro was no longer available online. I've tried googling it, couldn't find it anywhere. So I'm sticking to 0802 for now -- running solid and stable for the moment. Hopefully that's the last I'll ever see of that problem.
I'm not saying your problem is BIOS-related. I don't know enough about these things to make such an assertion. But that just might be something you want to investigate if problems persist -- as they did with my system.
