Check the OP... the v7 one is easy but if you are really new and just want to get a very easy start... look and the FAH GPU Tracker v2. installs everything for you and it's all just check boxes and entering your name and team.... probably the EASIEST client setup out there... tells you all PPD, how many of each WUs you have completed and how many points each part gets you.... For new people I Highly recommend it...

I might not be able to this year, as now I have the Phenom the fan noise is unbearably loud under load, and this rig is in my bedroom. You can have my Athlon server if built in time.

Every little bit helps. There is no such thing as not enough. Not just for the CC but for folding and the project in general... if you only complete one WU a month or less that is still one WU closer to finding cures....

Is there eventually going to be a banner atop OCN? That should attract a little bit of attention.

Just wondering if there's been any talk about changing the points system for this year?

As we saw last year, winning was a strategic thing rather than a brute force ppd war. HWC won by being able to fold waaaay over their average. While we could have done the same thing, HWC's average was much lower; they really didn't need to bring a lot online to be able to beat their average by a huge margin.

EVGA's folding is in turmoil because of the upcoming bigadv change.... a bunch of their folders moved over to WCG. So, I guess I gotta ask: Is there even going to be a Chimp Challenge 2012?

Last years CC was a bit of a fiasco....
The way the scoring system was set up had the potential to even the playing field a bit, over just going off raw points, but it did favor smaller teams that could more easily get a higher percentage of their active folders involved.

There was also the issue of teams openly cheating.
With the way the scoring system was set up, combining with other teams that were not factored into the baseline average for the team in the CC is cheating...

This would actually help Overclock.ru (our russian counterparts) as they have several folders who run liquid cooled loops outside their house to sub-zero cooling potential. There were some old threads back when we were passing their team on the overall leader-board that should be good for a laugh.

Overclock.ru has a single-core sempron that pumps out around 15ppd. EVERY BIT HELPS.

The admin's before were against it until it was going (when the chimp popped up). We need to convince them to get it up about a week or two ahead of time to slowly ramp up our folders.

There should probably be a weighting based on "active folders" as well so a small team can't double in size by adding 5 people and take the trophy.

I'm actually looking into getting some legit torrents up so we can hand out working VMs of Linux to users via torrent that are preconfigured with corehack, etc to get them folding in a linux VM as OCNChimpin in minimal time.

Ok gents, I think I'm gonna close this thread down. It's just a bit too early to start recruiting for the CC.

However, I know that things weren't great last year. The captains met up last week, and we're discussing the changes for this year's event. Once we've got  a system we're happy with, we'll take it to our teams, and you guys can have your say on it too.

Until then, bear in mind that you can recruit people for Folding the rest of the year. Getting them started now means they'll be in a much better position for the CC in May. ;)
