x2 4200+

Thread Starter
I would like a clear opinion of why at idle
my AMD x2 4200+ (2.2 MHz stock) has a temperature reading : core # 1 @ 22 c and core # 2
@ 30 c. (Core Temp program) I have an Artic Freezer Pro 64 HSF on top of the cpu and I was wondering if the
heatsink itself is not capable for cooling dual cores. I read on the net
where the heatsink wasn't big enough to cover all the IHS on the cpu.
ANY answers would be greatly appreciated. I'm using the new Zalman's heat compound
(the little bottle and brush) and I have completely removed the MB and reseated the HSF
two (2) times. ( NO FREAKIN' DIFFERENCE ) Do you think lapping would do any good ?
The room for this machine and a PD 805, a P4 2.60 GHz ( my folder) is about 20 c and 21 c

Lapping...
Is the surface rough? If so lap it.
Is the surface flat? Don't know... cover the surface with black or blue magic marker and lap it lightly to see what if any magic marker is left behind to indicate the flaws.

I'm thinking there may be as shallow spot above the one core area, thus inhibiting good contact.

My 4200+ X2 used to run idle at 36C* and 48C* load while being overclocked at 2.7Ghz on stock HSF! Now i have bought a Thermaltake Blue Orbit with a 120MM fan. The temps are at about idle 36C* and 46C* full load while being clocked at 2.76Ghz. I don't know how you guys are getting the temps that high though. Right now my 4200+ X2 is 5% faster than the FX-60!

Plus my OCZ Platinium DDR400 is currently set to DDR333 but is running at 460MHZ with 2.5-3-3-5 timings. Runs vista ultimate like a champ. My video card sucks though, will upgrade soon. Evga 6600GT Pci-E X16.

Please let me know , what is you setting for Vcore, Memory core, north bridge core and HT core, thank you

my voltage in the motherboard is set to 1.5v but CPU-Z shows at 1.536max. Everything else is at default speeds except for DDR ram at DDR333 because the frewuency of 275X2 would be too high for the ram, so it's 230X2=460Mhz, haven't you looked at the attached picture?
