I know but when you run benches the card hits 219w.
I had a xfx gtx275 before and this is from my personal experience.

Benching values are as relevant to these thread as my fetish for underaged nuns... the fact that he can pull xxx watts in synthetic benchmarks does not dictate a PSU purchase, unless of course, he's a bencher.. but he wouldn't be asking such questions on OCN if he were wink.gif

275s are ~180W cards... two 275s and 250 PhysX card will max at around 400W in anything except synthetics.. add to that the ~150W everything else and it's not that hard to see how 650W would be plenty wink.gif

Also, stop making lol suggestions, you're not helping him... 1KW Platinum units for 3 year old hardware(!?). that's like hauling fish to the market in a Pagani Zonda.. or on a different note, like smuggling Africans into Europe with a nuclear submarine... LOL

Thread Starter
This is for a Q9550 @ 4GHz around 1.325 volts. 2 GTX 275's and 1 GTX 275 Co-Op. Will be folding or gaming 24/7. Would like to see a recommendation for a flagship model and for a budget conscious model.

Also 2x2Gb sticks of DDR2, 3 SATA drives, 1 SSD, 1 optical drive, and probably around 5 fans.

THANK YOU everyone for all this discussion!

so 3 gtx 275''s and onboard gts 250

for the uninformed the 275 had a higher power draw then the 285

and in power draw the 275 = the gtx 470

so we are looking for something that could handle 3 gtx 470's and a gts 250 (horribly power hungry in its own right but it shouldn be too bad just running phyx)

1kw or more would be my suggestion

Rosewill LIGHTNING Series LIGHTNING-1000
SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050
OCZ ZX Series 1000W
XFX ProSeries P1-1000-BELX 1000W

take your pick or the seasonic plat which is same as the xfx but the xfx plat is a bit cheaper

Folding 24/7, don't stress the PSU over 80% of its rated capacity.

Yeah, it seems I got the OP wrong smile.gif

@OP, Obsidian86 made some excellent suggestions.. you need a solid 900W+ unit for a folding rig.. I'd add to that the XCLIO STABLEPOWER GOLD 1000W, which at 175$ offers excellent value, it's an excellent Enhance unit similar to the Silverstone Strider Gold 1000W.
