Help- I need to make my pc more quieter, it won't let me sleep. - Page 3

You could always use one of the fans the case has, that's what I did with mine.

2 of the 120mm rears mounted as push/pull on my radiator. When I go to sleep, these things make absolutely no noise at all with fan control in the back. (Antec DF-85)
But the only thing that bothers me are the LED, so I tape paper over my case and panel biggrin.gif

So it is safe to switch out my cpu cooler fan with case fans?

My problem is not the case fans. My problem is centered around the gpu and cpu fan. I now found something new. It is either the gpu fan that makes this annoying sound (not loud, but not quiet enough for me to sleep) or the cpu fan. I have to investigate more into this. With that VGA cooler, does it replace the graphics card fan? If I can do that, and replace my hyper 212 evo fan, my problem is solved. I am not looking for dead silence, I actually need the pc to make some noise because I am used to sleeping with the computer noise on. I like hearing a bit of the fans, but I do not like this annoying sound that is being produced from the hyper 212 or gpu fan. ALL my fans are on the lowest setting, the gpu fan is at 30%, but it won't let me go lower than 30%.

I have a hyper 212+. Adding a 2nd fan didn't quiet it down much.

Yes, putting decent fans on your CPU cooler would be fine. This one would be fine, and it's cheap.

If you REALLY want a quiet PC, these are 2 of the best CPU coolers you can get.
http://www.amazon.com/ThermalRight-HR-02-MACHO-Thermalright-Macho/dp/B005ERSN7G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326936102&sr=8-1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185173

EDIT: As for the GPU,an arctic accelero or a shaman (http://www.amazon.com/THERMALRIGHT-SHAMAN-6MM-HEATPIPES-HEATSINK/dp/B004CPEXRK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326936661&sr=8-1 ) would do nicely.

And if you're willing to sell your GTX 580, you could either get a custom 7970 or get this 580.

Simple fix

Lower your overclock my cpu @3.8 doesn't even go past 49C playing BF3 for hours.

That's with a low fan setting and I set target temp 50C in bios.

My cooler has the same PWM fans except 2 in push pull and they're not that loud except on high it's like a plane is taking off.

Heres what i run.

i5 2500k
HAf 922
hyper 212+
560 ti
p67 pro 3

I really don't hear my computer that much and it's oced it's a couple feet away. I replaced the mesh side with the clear side panel which seemed to actually help quite abit with the noise. Only thing that i don't like about my haf 922 is the 3 inch slot which makes hiding cables going to the Optical drive and hard drive hard to hide.

May I please know the fan % speed your gpu is set at? It won't matter if I set my i5 2500k at 3.3 Ghz or 4.0 Ghz, either way it runs at 1000 rpm, which is the lowest setting it can go to.

The best thing for me to do at this point is to get a fan replacement for the hyper 212+ and my 560 ti. The fan noise I am talking about, is coming from the bearing of the fan. Does your hyper 212 have a different sound than your case fans? If you hear closely, you can hear a buzzing noise or a different sound than the case fans.

Do you understand how low 5 DB is?
Do you understand how low the threash hold for hearing is?

This just doesn't really make sense, either get a fanless solution, or
turn your computer off lol. I sleep with 45 DB fans fine. Or in other terms, its the sound of a silent office, or busy library, or a person whispering.

If you really really really really can't deal with it, Go to home depot and buy some Jack hammer Ear protectors, they will block 35- 55 + DB no problem.
Or go buy some regular foam ear plugs.

You are sacraficing performance for quietness... Not sure why you just didn't get a fanless heatsink in the firstplace then.

I find that while some fans are not loud, they create and annoying resonance noise. I had this problem with the blade master that came with my hyper 212. I replaced all my fans with noctua fans and while they are pretty ugly they have a very good noise/airflow ratio. thumb.gif

YES! This is what i am talking about. so a Noctua 120mm fan replacement will be nice to replace my hyper 212 evo fan?

@above. I did not say I want noise levels to go to 5 dBA, I said I want to lower my noise levels by like 5 dBA, for example from 29 dBA to 24 dBA.

I see more of this VGA cooling. So it it possible to take out the whole VGA heatsink and replace it with a new and quieter one?\

Perfectly fine to use this?
