The EVGA Power board has me on a massive downer. It's nothing to do with the meet, i'm just having a self-pity moment and wondering if OC is a worthwhile future for me.
Basically, if this eVGA thing is as good as results are *suggesting,* then GPU leaderboards will be a question of "Do you have this product? Yes/No"
I don't wanna spend £150-200 on a product that is a ***** to move from one card to another and, maybe more importantly, it will make every card it's attached to unsellable. To use it, the stock PWM has to be decoupled and the PCB has to be ground away to expose power and ground planes.
To keep my GPU collection competitive, that means writing off over £500.
These kind of mods are also against what I believe benching should be about. Sure, no-one cares about that except me, but it's my hobby
If "humans" can only compete for 5th place (it only takes 4 guys worldwide to get one of these cards hooked up and running well) then may as well move to Enthusiast league and get 20-22 points per card on air/water instead of LN2ing it for 27 points or less..... 27 points max makes the Overclockers league really hard to rank well in.
/rant. For now anyway
