2500k Video Rendering Questions

Thread Starter
I need to ask a few questions about rendering and I wanted to post here because I was told a discrete card would not be needed for my purpose.

I plan on doing recordings of computer and video games. For video games I will be using either a Hauppauge or AnerMedia 1080p card.

I plan on doing all the after recording work in vegas, adding sound and such. I'll be muxing it all together in 1080p so it can scale down on youtube etc.

Is the 2500k GPU powerful enough for this or should I get a discrete card?

If a discrete card is necessary what should I get? (I know this question is not for this forum so if I need to I'll post that elsewhere.)

Note: I will be using this computer for daily tasks as well and doing some gaming, mostly SC2 and Diablo 3 which I'd like to play at the highest settings possible. System requirements are out for Diablo 3 but I know that Blizzards recommendations are also subjective.

In short, I don't want to plunk down cash if I don't need to. I want performance for best cost.

Thank you for looking.

if you want to play any PC games at all, it is highly recommended you get a video card. otherwise you'd only be playing at the lowest settings at the lowest resolutions.

for consoles games, you can do without a dedicated video card.

vegas is mostly a cpu bound program, you can do without a dedicated video card.

I won't be getting a card until late march or so. Probably go with a 6870 if I do. I don't need Tahiti based GPU's and Kepler is nowhere to be mentioned atm.
