Hello,

I definitely want to buy one of these 3 televisions for my main room of my house. Please help me choose?

Any reasoning with your choice is MUCH appreciated. I am probably going to order it tonight, or tomorrow.

Wow; they are all solid TV's. I think the thing to keep in mind is your room size. If you haven't gone to a "brick and mortar" store to look at these sets, you definitely should. That is of limited help, but you can get a better idea of how much room one of them will take up, and how well it can be viewed in your viewing room. The TV we recently bought was a 50" LG plasma and in the store it looked massive. We get it home, and the size is fine, it isn't small at all, but we could have gotten a 55". I can see the opposite being true, too. Looks good in the store, get it home and it is just overbearing!

Basically from what I'm reading the Samsung has better color accuracy, but the Panasonic has slightly better black levels.

I would go with the Samsung firstly because of personal preference. But also because the Samsung seems to be lighter and thinner from what I can tell from the specs. It's also slightly bigger being 59 inch over 55 at roughly the same price range.

4-5'' extra is fairly noticeable (50-55% more viewing area) and I personally rather prefer a larger size TV.  So, I would eliminate the 55'' Panasonic out of the competition.

Regarding the 60'' Panasonic TC-P60GT30 and 59'' Samsung PN59D8000, they are both solid.  The Samsung does receive a slightly higher rating in the reviews below but it costs $150 more.  Either one is fine.

I would go with the Panasonic. They have had some Fbr issues, but there is a fix out for it now. One question though: Why go for the GT panel? You might save a few bucks and get the ST panel, which has nearly the same capabilities: It just lacks the THX certification. Quite honestly, if you are going to break in your new Plasma the "correct" way, you will be able to find some great calibration settings from the AVSforum. Most users there report better IQ with the custom settings than the THX mode.

I would most defiantly go with the Panasonic over the Samsung to me everything about the Panasonic was better. I have a 3D 50" Panasonic and a 3D 50" Samsung and I can tell you the Samsung has a lot of problems with 3D witch really runs the effect plus the color and black level is much better on the Panasonic. My Panasonic is a 2010 model and the Samsung was just purchased a week ago so I can only imagine the new model Panasonic only getting better since that time. If you are going Plasma Panasonic is the only way to go!
