I think Im getting to the problem here. Let me draw it for you.

Seems the case doesn't have enough airflow the 60mm fan doesn't move a big amount (volume) of air. The fan that is just beneath the gpu gets all the available air needed for a good heat disipation outside the case!. You should put this fan suking air from the front so you will 2 fans filling fresh air into the case. The fan that is located in the upper position on your case should be removed and relocated in the back as an exhaust somewhere beetwen the cpu heatsink and the gpu upper part.
like this:

i cant flip my videocard upside down. and theres no vents where you put the 80mm.

so heres what i did.

These cases are extremly hard to get good air flow threw them, but is it possible. I have the Apevia Xplorer which is internally the same case, and I get case temps 1-2 degress higher them ambient on idle and 77F at full load. My case is actually hotter with the side off like others have stated.

I have duel 80mm fans upfront side by side blowing in,
and a 120mm fan on the back blowing out,
and thats it.

also cutting you fan grills out helps a lot, my case temps dropped about 10F after doing so and also my fan noise decreased, because there was less resistance to the air flow.also the is enough room to put a much larger fan on the front if your willing to mod the case a little bit. thumb.gif

You have 2 model of card: the ones that have stock fans (suck'n blow, or blowers) and the aftermarket cooler solution like msi's twin frozer II and III or xfx dual fan, or sapphires vapor-x, the first thermal solution "sucks" air from a "blower" fan located at the back like this models:

600

429

See the fan sitting at the back?. This fans suck and make the air "go through" all the card, exhausting heat at the back. This is a nice design but when talking about temperatures is not that good.

Then you have this models:

480

411

320

This single and dual fan cards push the air from the case into the cards making a good cooling solution for the CARDS but tend to spread the heat inside the case making a lot of TURBULENCE as you said before. The air gets into the card through the fans and no the other way as you said (and I asume you have this kind of card). I think you are wrong in that point or must have confused the idea.

I have the same thermal solution as your card (dual fans), This dual fan cards needs a good spacing beneath the fans so they can get a good amount of air pushed through the cooler fins for a good heat disipation, so I asume you have a good spacing beneath your card but the 60mm fan is exhausting the air from this "free spot" beneath your card, do you understand the point?. I recomend putting this fan somewhere else and try the card without it.

You are getting the idea, yes you should try that. Anyway, I don't promess you any improvement on temps, but if you plan on upgrading your rig for a better air flow (Bigger fans, maybe a case, who knows!?), maybe your can get better results. I would take care of that 6950 baby!, I wouldn't want to have this babe hurt, specially for a low-quality and faulty PSU (Im not attacking your psu, but sometimes the big sellers like amazon, e-bay, newegg exagerate a lot about their products just to get them selled). Beware and read a lot of reviews from good sources (techreport.net, overclock3d.net, hardwareheaven.com, vortez.net, but don't believe them at all make your own conclusion about a product or read forums, the best knowledge is the one that you get through other experiences).

The list its ok, good products, but the zambezi its not a good option right now (Im an AMD fanboy). The zambezi aren't good enough yet and the software today seems not to be "very friendly" with these. Maybe stick to your phenom II x 4 925 and wait or go for a phenom II x 4 955, or 965 be (Black Edition). But I recommend to wait till they get the stepping b3 version of bulldozers sometime this year, it will be "bulldozers II" (same as happened with the phenoms). Maybe they can get a good improvement this year I deeply hope. Save money for the new amd cpus comming soon, maybe you can catch a good price/performance one.
