Access Non-Raid Hard drive on Computer setup for RAID?

Hey guys, I was looking to copy a bunch of files off of a friends hard drive, But I currently have two WD 1tb connected in RAID 1. How do I go about connecting the third hard drive and getting my computer to not just crash?

Plug it in and don't boot off the new drive...why would it crash?

I have tried that and it doesn't work. It gets to the windows loading screen and crashes. If I plug it in while the computer is running, it can't find the C-Drive and crashes aswell.

For the first part the crashing sounds like because your mobo is booting from your friends drive.

For the second one do you have hotswap/hotplug enabled? If not that could be why.

Hotswapping is enabled in the BIOS, Also, I am unsure of how to change the boot order in the BIOS because all I can see is something that says intel device 0 and then the second on the list is a controllet. Almost as if it cannot recognise the hard drive.
