A fair deal I guess... There is a thread in the deals section where they are being sold for $50 FS. http://www.goharddrive.com/White-Label-150GB-10K-RPM-SATA-Hard-Drive-p/g01-0115.htm

I didn't really notice the difference between a Samsung F3 and F3 Raid 0 so I would just deal with what you currently have till you can get an SSD. At least get one SSD as soon as you can afford then another later and raid them.

be end of february, i want some more speed, is 10k a big jump from 7.200? id also like it for e-peen with friends, just so i can say my drive hits vtec when theres stops! rolleyes.gif

10k e-peen died when SSDs became affordable.

As of this moment, you would do better to save your money and go for a large 7200 RPM drive rather than a small 10,000 RPM drive. It seems that the lower areal density of the VelociRaptor counteracts any positive effect that might be had from the higher spindle speed.

While the VelociRaptor is the fastest conventional drive out there (SSDs are faster), it is not significantly faster than a traditional 7200 RPM drive.

ah cack! fair play,

WDs 2tb drives and some Raid 0 128GB SSD M4s it is then.

Save it for SSDs. You could buy the slowest SSD and it will stomp that Raptor.

That's an ancient and slow 10k RPM drive. Any modern 7200RPM drive will outperform it. I might pay $20 for it, but I think I'd rather have something faster...

Just save up for your SSD.

And I wouldn't RAID your SSDs. That usually makes them feel slower. tongue.gif (and knocks out TRIM)
