so who else is waiting it out for the 7990? - Page 2

Im waiting for the 7990 or maybe the dual GPU Nvidia card. (GTX690 ot 790 or whatever its going to be) to replace my CF 6950's.

I don't think so. It's gonna be painful enough to put out for the 7970. I don't think my bank account can handle double that for the 7990 LOL

A single 7970 will last a very very long time and you'll save money instead of getting a 7990 that may not even physically last long enough to be an average gpu in the future.

I'll probably get 7990's when they come out but in the interim I've bought two 7970's to hold me over. Three months is a long time! I just resell the cards anyways and only lose 20-30% max.

wait are you saying the card will degrade over time physically? cause that's what you're sounding like. i've never heard of that.

I'm saying it possible that the card could die randomly, something happens like a HORRIBLE accident, you **** something up while OC'ing it. ya know

**** happens

ohhhh. i gotcha, yeah that is always a possibility. sucks too cause xfx usually is the best with warranties and the sort, but their pcb's aren't reference all the time, so im hoping to find an unlocked xfx 7990 with a compatible fc waterblock to cool the sucker down, though im sure it wont get very hot to begin with. the 7970 reviews under water prove how much cooler these cards run than any other cards, especially the 480/580's.

They should make it since there is a niche market for that in that kind of card
