H60 + a nice high rpm 120mm fan in the push config = Awesome cooling for the price.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Corsair+-+Hydro+Series+H60+120mm+Fan+CPU+Cooler/2664005.p?id=1218343211061&skuId=2664005

Add to that a fan splitter cable, tie both fans into your motherboard and use the bios cpu fan control for quiet operation during low load times... One sexy setup if I do say so myself thumb.gif

(I'm all the proof you need)

Food for thought...

Black Edition.
AMD's K-series so to speak, black edition means that it has an unlocked cpu multiplier, which is almost essential for the best overclock.

Both methods of overclocking from Muti or HTT /FSB /Baseclock have gotten equal results..

A 212+ WILL NOT handle a 4ghz OC on an X6. i have tried, and im getting ridiculous temps. You definitely need at least something like a Hr02 macho. and the h60 is outperformed by the Silver Arrow, Nhd14 and the Phanteks. Dont bother, the corsair hydros are noisy as well, and cost a bloody lot, as well as taking up a case fan slot.

I would have to go against buying another corsair PSU. Honestly, they just arent good value for money compared to what the XFX650w PSU's are going for. I know the Corsair is a bit better, but the difference in quality is so slight, you'd be better off saving a few bucks by getting another GOOD power supply (ie, not the apevia) like something from XFX or Silverstone, even OCZ is good, and so are the Vantec ION2+ ones (trust me, those are really damn good for people with lower power builds. Ive used about 6 of them, and after a year, all of them are still rock solid, which is surprising, although the fan noise has increased somewhat (typical of sleeve bearing fans, even corsair uses them). Phaedrus2129 would be the OCN PSU guru. Oklahoma Wolf is also the writer for JohnnyGuru, which is a respectable and well known PSU review site amongst the OCN community.

Thats true, but remember, Black Editions have been binned as Black Editions for a reason; theyre better chips overall. BE chips typically have less flaws than a non-be chip, and so overclock higher with less volts than a non-be. Ive noticed how 1055t's need around 1.5-1.52v to get a 4ghz oc stable. Mine needs 1.52v for a stable 4ghz oc. 1090t's and 1100t's only take 1.475 and in some cases 1.44 volts for a stable 4ghz oc. Which is why for people wanting to push past the 4ghz barrier, a BE chip would be a good idea. Also, with overclocking AMD chips, youre going to have to overclock the northbridge quite a significant amount (2800mhz for a 4ghz oc) so a BE or not, equally good chips (ie, perfect flawless CPU's) would overclock exactly the same, with the non-be coming out on top, because the non-be would need a higher ref clock, meaning slightly higher NB speed.

@R4Z0R i posted the one just as an example, it would be def better than the no name product within the same price category (according to the site)
personally i would invest much more money to get a seasonic but as always, it depends on how much money he want to spend

Welcome.

As you can see there are many differing subjective opinions on heatsink fans and PSUs. I'd suggest you view the objective, scientific HSF test data at the link below so that you can make an informed decision on how various popular HSFs perform. No one can tell you how these HSF will perform in your PC with your hardware unless they test to see but at least you'll have a pretty good idea which HSFs are thermally efficient and properly designed. Be advised that some forum members take exception to objective, scientific test data that refutes their unsubstantiated personal beliefs and as such they attack the website producing the data and people who post it, but this does not change the data or reality. It's real and it's accurate.

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm#AMDHEATSINK

When it comes to choosing a quality built PSU - and you should pick a quality built PSU, then read PSU reviews for the EXACT model PSU you are interested in at www.jonnyguru.com and www.hardwaresecrets.com to see how these PSUs actually perform. Do not buy based just on brand name as one model could be good and another poor. Read the objective, scientific PSU reviews so you are informed befoe you spend your money.
