If you like to upgrade there are "only" three good choices.

ASUS
MSI
GIGABYTE

Each offer a 3 year serial number based warranty. So you can resell you card without warranty BS.

Most manufacturers don't have a lfietime warranty yet I don't see anyone spergin out over that. Get a grip. Most XFX cards still have the lifetime warranty. Christ.

I agree with you! It is sad that whenever a new product is now released, this forum erupts with some form of negativity. I hope we someday can evolve beyond such foolishness.

Personally, two or three years of warranty is fine. If I were worried this much about that and not on the performance of the item, I would not purchase anything. thumb.gif

Sure, but on a highend and this is highend I expect a bit more coverage. But really the biggest problem I have is they changed the warranty without much fanfare, and dropped it down to the accepted minimum. That on it's own isn't much, but when you consider they went from Double Lifetime to 2 years, that's a helluva swing don't you think, especially considering the stealthy manner in which it was done?

I had an order for quads and I canceled, $2G poof into a competitors pockets. I hope you read this xfx.

I call bs on this^ Your cpu would melt with four 7970's. You need an X79. Also for your info if you would have bucked up for the BEDD's they do come with a lifetime warranty. Damn...........

2600K with his board would have been fine. I am not sure what you are talking about. Maybe x79 would be better for quad, but not required.

Holding back 2k worth of cards on a 300 cpu would be retarded. They would fly on a x79. I just don't see someone who held back on there cpu spending 2k on gpu's. No offense.

You're not holding back your cards at all? How do you mean?

The difference in games is not that great. Most would argue that there is no difference. Hyperthreading generally does not help games at all, so basically the SB-e gives you HT while an overclocked SB can give you potentially higher clock speeds on average.

Of course, if one ops for quadfire it would make sense that a grandiose budget such as that would also cover SB-e regardless

If you look at most all trifire-quadfire configs in benchmarks the x79 always has a much higher test score fps. Even at 4.5 ghz a 2600k would be a major bottleneck for 4 7970's guaranteed. Maybe not 6950's but 580's or 7970's no.
