Mixing Crucial Ballistix and Corsair CM2X

Thread Starter
I've got 2GB(2x 1gb pairs) of Crucial Ballistix and 2GB of Corsair CM2X. (Don't ask why I have these sets mixed, it's a long rediculous story that I don't have the time or patients to tell).

They are both PC6400 rated at 4-4-4-12 timings. The Crucial is rated at 2.2v and the Corsair at 2v. Oh, and Crucial doesn't have EEP Corsair does.

I can run all 4 modules stable at the advertized settings but I have to set the voltage to "Auto" on my P5BD with the e6600. I've tried voltages ranging from 1.9v to 2.25 an nothing works, only the auto setting.

I'm planning on overclocking to about 3.2ghz and I'm looking for advice on whether I should go with just one set or the other.

I'll be using windows64 with 64bit apps which I'm sure will use all 4gb.

Also, should I be concerned with the difference of one set having EEP and the other not?

I guess it's because that you're mixing brands that the overvoltage doesn't work.
No, you shouldn't worry about the EEP, it's just an extra, and another one not having it is not a problem.
Also, 4 GB of RAM is WAY too much overkill, and a VERY few apps will use 4 GB.
This is rounded down to Maya etc.

I got everything working stable at PC 6400 speeds with 4-4-4-12 timings by setting the voltage to auto, go figure. Now I'm just concerned with whether mixing the brands will affect my ability to overclock to around 3.2ghz.

Thanks for the advice on the amount of RAM. I knew I would get a comment like that. I use Maya, zBrush and After Effects. I'm also using win64.

Also, for some reason I can't change the multiplier or the CPU frequency in the Bios. I have it set to give me manual control over those options but I still can't change anything. The text isn't greyed out so I should be able to select it, hit enter, and change the setting but when I hit enter nothing happens. Everything else I can change without a problem. Any ideas? Oh, I doing all this with the latest bios (0614). I haven't tried the beta versions that are available on the asus support page.
