1 hour is absolutely nothing, sorry. You'll need to test longer than that.

how long?...and also if the clock and vcore values flash in cpu z (start blinking) is that a sign of instability?

Just run Prime blend by itself. If you're interested in those 12hour + counting stable threads then run it that long. Me personally when I change something I run it max. 1 hour before I get bored waiting and then just use 3DMark11 and games to tell me if something is too low.

But considering this is not a work machine / folding etc, just cruising, surfing and playing it doesn't worry me as much as some here.

My system is primarily for gaming, yet I do office work on it sometimes (laptop for schoolwork). Also, I doubt this is true with high quality PSUs (tx750), yet my mom said that my overclock could cause a fire...

While I am sure you are fine... it is possible. My last rig went up in smoke and if I didn't catch it probably COULD have gone up. VRM blew and started taking the parts out around it.

That being said, I wouldn't worry about it too much. My last rig wasn't even overclocked at the time. lol. Stuff just happens sometimes.

I have my 2600k on 5Ghz @ 1.44, 1.5 is too high imo, i wouldnt go above 1.47, the voltage difference between 4.8 and 5.0 is quite alot so try 4.8.

Just some friendly advice, I suggest you use a Vcore offset because your Vcore is pretty high.
