How much heavier is the G400 compared to the Spawn (excluding the cable)? If the weight difference is not much I might consider the G400 as I've been seeing only fail mice coming out lately.

I had to sand the ridge down because my ring finger dangles off to the side of it, and some times I use it for gripping the right side too. With the ridge as it is on a new G400, it makes for a sore ring finger in a hurry. From what I read, the G500 does not have that ridge.

Honestly, I can't really divulge that type of information. The reasoning behind the decision to discontinue a specific product or to only sell that type of product in one region is privileged. All I really can say is that even though it has been discontinued elsewhere, we updated the G1 for Korea, China, a few other countries in Asia/Pacific, and some parts of Eastern Europe.
I know all these things and i'm not asking you for an explanation. All i'm saying is bring that shape/size back. Imo Logitech made a big mistake retiring G1/G3 and all those customers are now turning to Steelseries/Razer for alternatives. How is this a smart move from Logitech? I fail to see the reasoning behind this decision and i refuse to believe that there's no demand for mid-sized ambidextrous mice in US/EU. In fact the huge amount of ambidextrous mice released in the last year makes me think i'm right.

Pretty lights? Add them but let us turn them off if we want. (Many mice allow you to turn them off, Sensei/DA etc)
Weight system? Add it in BUT DON'T MOVE THE SENSOR POSITION. Look at the Mionix Naos 5000, your "special" customers can hold themselves back by filling it up with weights while others can just leave them out and still have a centered sensor.

Exactly my point.

wow, I might actually be able to recommend Logitech for a gaming mouse again

tempted to get one for myself if only to add to the collection, but the G400 seems a bit on the heavy side for my liking

on the specs its listed as:

Total weight: 133 grams
Cord: 15 grams

is total weight including the 15 gram cord? because then it wouldn't be too bad

The G400 is quoted to be 105g without cable. My scales show it to be ~110g (as some cable is obviously inside the shell).

Just ordered one from newegg last week (1/3/2012) and it has a PID of LZ13523 from their New Jersey warehouse.

CPate, i PMed you on logitech's forums and am glad to see you posting here as well.

The G400 is working out really well for me save for lift off distance on a 4HD, nothing i can't get used to, it's not so bad on a qck.

Should be so because I have a G400 and it feels only slightly heavier than my IME3.0, and the IME3.0 should weigh about 100g? (without cable)

I ordered my G400 from scan.co.uk on 14 Dec 2011 and the PID number is LZ13433, so the new ones are over here. I'm guessing Best Buy in the States must have a large stock of G400's. BTW, I love my G400. smile.gif
