Some people just dont realize how much faster sandy bridge is for gaming, thats ok. Good enough is good enough but a bottleneck is still a bottleneck.

I don't know what to tell you, other than I remember your old thread, and I haven't seen the problems you were experiencing in similar setups. Probably specific to the 295 IMO, or your board didn't like it, or your PCIe had issues.

Let people max out their C2Qs and decide for themselves when they see their framerates.

And you better tell every person with a Phenom II X4 they need to upgrade as well, since the C2Q is still faster than those chips!

yeah your pretty right 2thache my friend who owns the q6600 has the same board I have, evga 750i ftw, I can get my q9450 up to 465 fsb or 930 fsb quad pumped resulting in 3.72 ghz overclocked but I also have the first revision of the q9450 so I am more limited then most q9450's, your probably right my board probably will not reach 480+ or 500+ unless I got a q9550 or q9650. My friend was only able to get his q6600 up to 3.5 ghz but we only spent 1 day on trying to get it overclocked and I know we did not hit his max, so I guess for him that would be 388 way off the 500+ mark but 500 on a q6600 would be like 4.5ghz thats huge doubt he will reach that. As well I did have to get some awesome ram to get to my max before I was using 1066mhz ram which is still very good but I was limited to 875mhz with the memory at cas latency 4 limiting my overclock to 3.5ghz so I upgraded to ddr2 1200 mhz to allow me to push myself to the max 3.72 mhz with memory at 875 cas 4 as well as changing it to 1t instead of 2t timing mode. Actually come to think of it 2thache are you talking about numbers you have read from water cooled computers or air cooled. Because my computer is just air cooled, wonder if I water cooled it if my board could hit 500+ but I really have never heard of a q9450 hitting 4ghz, I have heard of the newest q9550's steppings hitting it, the newest steppings have a huge advantage over the olds, and obviously the q9650s can easily go 500+ which I have seen them do on many asus's and evga's before.

Wow guyz, thanks a lot, @2thAche my computer booted up with those settings you posted!! I am now booted into a 2.9GHz clock, I will test OCCT CPU TEST for 1 hour and see if it shows any errors as most people apparantly do. My CPU temps atm, as shown by OCCT, are CPU 1 = 45C, CPU 2 = 43C, CPU 3 = 42C, CPU 4 = 42C, GPU = 47C, my VCore is ranging from 1.30 to 1.31, CPU Frequency is ranging from 2996.9 to 2.997.1. I have the G0 Q6600 btw. This is my first CPU overclock! biggrin.gif Ok, leaving it to test now...will close firefox, msn and all that..

Seems like the temps are very high, have you considered reseating the cooler?

My Q6600 and True would hit 4Ghz with around 50- 55°C Idle IIRC

I was on 445 with a multiplyer of 9. I can't remember my voltage, but that mighty little chip is actually in a plastic CPU packaging thing, since I swapped it out for my 2500k biggrin.gif

Don't know if I can compare my temps to yours as mine is a q9450 and yours is q6600, but mine stock ran low 30c at idle and under stress about 39-40c, once it was overclocked at about 25% as well I initially saw a decent temp jump it got closer to about 40 Celsius in idle and upper 40's Celsius in stress. Now with the max overclock at about 40% oc I still see about the same temps 40c on idle and upper 40's in stress sometimes hitting 50 celcius just barely, so as you can see my heat sink is not strong at keeping idle temps real low but is very good at keeping stress temps low. Some are good at keeping idle temps real low but once it gets hot enough they start to struggle more, and some are good at both. So watch out but your heat sink might be like mine where it strives at keeping the temps real low under stress and only mediocre at idle. But usually instability becomes a problem when you get into the mid to upper 50's for my processor.

umm sorry, but idk how to reset my CPU cooler, it came with PC when I bought it off the dude, and I don't have any experience with CPU coolers tongue.gif
Anyway, according to OCCT's graphing, the test didn't last longer than 1min and 53s, and I wasn't at my computer, but when I got back I saw that it had rebooted and apparantly my PC BSODed when it was testing, here's the full error message:

Anyway, I'm thinking that maybe I didn't setup some settings properly? I have yet to manually set my RAM's timings, which I shall do today, and I will try bumping my VCORE by .05.
IF you can, please tell me what I might've done wrong, oh and I'll attatch a picture of the GRAPH taken for CPU1 by OCCT.400

for my processor temps are high, but maybe for a q6600 this is right. Anyway you'll never pass occt overclocked without your memory timings set, heck I don't even know anyone that passes occt at stock with their memory timings not set. I know a lot of people who run without setting their timings and usually they can get away running their computer without seeing any issues but when occt stresses it out ususally thats enought to make occt fail you.

It's kinda time to trial-and-error it. Increase MCH core one notch at a time, see if OCCT runs any further. If that doesn't help at all, back it down and try increasing Vcore one notch at a time, retesting each time, and see if OCCT runs longer.

I'd try more VCore first actually.
