AMD FX 4100 Overclocking - Page 2

Have same CPU but different mobo a GA-970A-UD3. All i had to do to get my CPU to 4.9 is raise the multiplier to 22.5 and raise the CPU volt to 1.52. Idles at 22-30 and the highest temp i have gotten while in a game (BF3 karkand 64 player conquest) was 55. On a benchmark where the CPU is stressed at 100% i get to 65, but like i said, unless is a stress tool it never gets that high. At 4.0 you shouln't be getting 75c. Though I don't know how the default cpu fan performs ( have a cooler master n520) i have read reviews that the stock cpu cooler does a good job. To whoever has the 4.0 @75c I suggest you check the thermalpaste and if the CPU cooler is seated well.

Got it fixed. Went out and bought some new thermal paste, and re-seated the fan; oc'd back to 4ghz and ran p95 for about 2 hours and the temps didn't go above 40c. Not sure what the problem was.

I ordered a Zalman CNPS9900-B last night. The highest I've ran my CPU so far was at 3.8 by just bumping the multiplier (turbo boost disabled.) I was afraid to do anything more with the stock cooler. Once I get my fan installed, what do you guys suggest I start out with. I justtt got my system rock solid stable again after playing with my RAM timings for the past 2 or 3 days. 240 on the FSB scares the ***** out of me, I don't know if my board will like that. Shall I try 4.0 on just multipliers first? What's the highest the average system can go on just multipliers and be very stable?

The 4100 is really a nice chip...I got mine earlier this week with the gigabyte 990fxa ud5 (had to flash the bios to the F7h beta to stop the throttling issues) but since then, I've gotten really good results. So far my 24/7 OC is in my sig but I have had it as high up as 4.8ghz, but at those freq. and voltages (1.4v) the heat is too much for the hyper212+ to handle. I'll go for that sort of OC when i order the XSPC Rasa RX240 kit.

The only thing I really have to change now is my ram (currently some 1333's but i'm making the move to a 2000mhz vengeance kit.

Hey everyone, I did something stupid and set my FSB to 250 and my smart fan target to 65F. My system gets to hot before I can change my settings back and freezes. I currently have my computer sitting next to the humidifier hoping it will get it really cold long enough to change the settings back.

I'm so scared i messed everything up!

Don't worry if all you did was raise the FSB thats nothing to worry about. But letting it sit next to a humidifier is so don't do that!
And don't turn it back on if there is condensation just let it dry a bit biggrin.gif
you just need to clear the CMOS by taking out the little battery on the motherboard.
I'm assuming that's a 970A-G45 so its under the first PCI-E x16 slot. Or you can look in the manual and see if there is a jumper for clearing the CMOS with.

Thank you this worked! Changing the battery didn't restart my settings for some reason so I had to dig for my manual to figure out how to jump it but now it is working great. I can't thank you enough thumbsupsmiley.png

nice numbers! i own the exact same mobo+cpu and i would like to get the cpu above 4.2ghz (if i go up to 4.3+ghz my system will present errors... like the "fatal error 0.4 should be blablabla" found on prime 95 ._.)

help me T_T lol

i'm using a hyper 212+ in push/pull mode
