How to make money playing games.

Yes, really!
Obviously, not all of us can participate in LAN tournaments or join up with a clan to rake in some green. Location/time management aren't always easy to coordinate and you constantly have to rely on others to ensure victory. Plus, the high level tournament circuit is pretty stress inducing.

Well, welcome to a secret world. biggrin.gif

When I was active in the speedrun community during the 90's, I came into contact with people who would pay top dollar to see me complete a game. These folks were quite rare and had incredibly specific demands for what they wanted to see. They usually requested FPS games but soon extended into adventure and platformers as the console market boomed. Then, 1999 hit, and these "Bounties" exploded. Suddenly, multiple requests were flooding in my PM box 24/7. I was getting asked to do No-Death runs on Jazz Jackrabbit 2 one day and a Tyson Run (Ultra Violence difficulty, kill every monster once, limited weapons) on Doom that same night. It was the start of something awesome.

Now, with how huge the internet has become, more and more bounties are up for completion. I went ahead and provided a list of some current contracts. Keep in mind, this is just from one source. There are TONS of other meeting places to get contracts and get paid. And boy... will you get paid. Right now, a speedrun on GTA:San Andreas or Half Life can net you anywhere from $100 to $1000. eek.gif

Of course, your skills have to be beastly to stand a chance. If you're not already good at a game, you'll have to practice a bit. But, if you've got a few days off work or you're just bored, why not give it a try? smile.gif

Check out the details below. If you see something you like, you can go to the link to find out exactly what to do.
Recording your gameplay is an absolute must if you want to get anywhere.

So without further ado, behold!

The same reason people pay for music, movies, sex, or any other form of media.

Because it's entertaining.
