[Verge] Acer's AcerCloud unveil is a blatant iCloud ripoff - Page 6

But people have already proven that they weren't the first...honestly marketing is all about looking at the product for a few seconds and being able to fully understand what that product offers. No one want's to have to analyze for 5 minutes on what the picture of the product is selling...

The only people that keep bring up this point about being first are you guys. Not me, not Apple, not anyone else. I don't know why you keep falling back on this argument. No one is saying Apple was first to cloud computing. No one.

Let me rephrase that, not the first to show a picture of what cloud computing does that looks like that...I'm done with this, this topic is ridiculous.

So if apple is not the first then how is acer copying them? Seriously your going in a circle over and over again. Acercloud sounds nothing like iCloud and the picture has nothing to do with anything.

Except in this case, Acer is making a carbon copy of iCloud and calling it AcerCloud. From the naming conventions to the slide depicting the services, all blatantly copied from Apple.

But Apple blatantly ripped off the idea as well... so Acer isn't ripping off Apple, they are ripping off the same people Apple themselves are ripping off. Sheesh, get it through your head already, we've given you enough proof.

I'm not a graphic designer, but I'm more than certain there's more than one way to make a slide depicting Cloud services. Certainly one that's different than simply copying Apple.

Apple has stolen all the ideas they are claiming were stolen from them and you defend Apples actions. So you believe in unoriginality when Apple is the ones doing it.

You keep going on about how people are ripping off Apple, when that is not the case at all as we've previously shown you Apple has ripped off these ideas themselves, so others aren't copying Apple, they are copying the ones Apple copied. And the reason people keep bringing this up... well did you read OP? It claims that Apples ideas are stolen, when its just someone doing the same as Apple, stealing someone elses idea.

I forgot we live in a world where everything Apple steals is Apples, and everything everyone else does is just copying Apple.

Hey guys, today I learned that Apple is paying royalties to Cisco for the use of the names "iOS" and "iPhone". This is incredibly strange, it surely can't be because Cisco trademarked them first and then Apple ripped off the names later! It's almost like they settled for royalties to avoid a lawsuit! eek.gif

Hmm, both are dark blue/black at the top, fading into a lighter blue at the bottom. Both use a cloud with the text "30 days" and computer with "all" in white text. The layout looks very similar. While it could be possible that Acer came up with this all on their own, I think it is most likely that Acer's marketing was influenced by Apple on this one.

Not that it makes a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things, but that's how it appears.

So now Apple owns basic PowerPoint looking presentations. How about you mention how the pictures and info Apples uses is almost a complete ripoff of what other companies did, all Apple did was make their presentation look cheaper. I agree the Acer one is very similar, but since both are such basic generic templates and they both ripoff someone that had the idea b4 either of these companies, you shouldn't go around accusing others of stealing from Apple. So stop saying Apple was ripped off when Apple has done the same amount of ripping off, on the same idea no less.

I still can't get over how people just try to convince themselves Apple is a victim. Your semi-right in a way I suppose... (its another "look and feel" issue, this time over presentation heh)... but your reaching pretty hard... I think its more of an issue that Apple shouldn't use such standard basic things and expect everyone to allow them to "own" it...
