[DSO] Intel caught cheating while demonstrating F1 2011 in DX11 on Ivy Bridge based Ultrabook - Page 20

I smell lies and damage control.

The point of a real time demonstration is to actually show real time stuff, not prerecorded stuff. I'm not surprised tho, Intel is way behind on integrated video so showing a video instead of the real deal was kind of a worthy risk for them (it didn't work in the end, but hey, it's Intel, they will recover from that tongue.gif).

Intel must be feeling desperate after AMD showed a 17w Trinity at CES playing Dirt3 on one monitor, playing a video on a second monitor and decoding on a third monitor. IMPRESSIVE is an understatement to say the least. Can't wait to get my hands on a Trinty ultraportable!

That depends on the bitrate.

1080p at say 5mbps is nothing compared to 1080p at say 35mbps.

Yeah exactly. YouTube 1080p probably is something like 5Mbps, whereas a Blu-ray is up to 40Mbps and a decent encode of that will still be 10-20Mbps most of the time.

Me too. AMD definitely has Intel by the gonads when it comes to APU's and their graphics. I am going to be selling my system and getting one of these. Probably desktop but real small form factor.

Intel's test system crashed, that is why then went to the video. They didn't want it to be like Bill gate's blue screen, this was live. So they used the video. their test system must have had issues. I know b/c i talked to my Intel contact and that is what he told me about the debacle, i personally couldn't make it to their demo, I didn't really want to either. Notebook stuff and iGPUs don't excite me lol, neither does going to the LVCC.

lol, that makes it even worse. The demo system crashed, hopefully not while they were trying to run the game xD
Intel needs to step it up if they want to be an actual consideration for gamers. My friend has an older notebook with a HD3000 series chip and NO unreal games run on it(Mass Effect, Borderlands, etc.). The drivers won't do it, even some old games I have from 2000 won't run on it, because the lack of Open-GL support.
