Xigmatek Thors Hammer on 1155

Thread Starter
Ok so i just bought a new motherboard, cpu, ram to upgrade.

This motherboard. Asus P8Z68-V Gen3

and a 2500k, and i just assumed (hoped) that my thors hammer would fit, not sure if it does or not yet though, cpu won't be here til tomorrow maybe.

Now going by the original details for the hammer on the box, it does 775 and 1366, but I'm also finding it for sale at various online stores stating that it works with 1155 aswell.

So does anyone know if it actually does work/fit 1155 boards?

Really don't wanna have to fork out for a new cpu cooler. frown.gif

Hmm... a little more awake now.

And after a bit more searching i came across Xigmatek Crossbar ACK-U01

So I'm thinking I'll have to get my hands on one of those for it to work, don't feel like drilling through steel to put extra holes in the existing backplate, even if i could, drilling steel aint fun.

Hi,

Did the thor work with the crossbar ?

Many thanks

Yea it worked out ok. What i did was just used the backplate from the crossbar and the side brackets/spring screws from the original 775 mounting, just bent out the corner parts where the screw holes are a bit to get em to line up without the crossbar. Seems to hold pretty well.

Due to the design of the thors hammer the crossbar part doesn't actually fit through. So a bit of mix/match going on haha but it works.

Cool, I thought as much.... I was eyeing the crossbar and also thought it to be too wide... Might be possible to file it down otherwise your hack looks like being perfect. thumb.gif

Many thanks for getting back to me
