Get ready kids its the box....2.0

Stay in dream land, buddy.

@CorsairGeorge: I see on the 550D that there is some kind of plastic slider that comes down and covers the front 2 mounted fans. I'm going to guess this has to do with sound dampening, does it have to be raised up to allow the fans to work? To put it another way, if I lower the slider, are the front fans going to survive?

lol blind consumerism....

anyways for the price point you can find larger cases with far more features. Another situation where your buying the box from corsair.

Not sure what you're referring to, there's no "slider" there. There's a latched door that prevents sound from escaping through the front, but there are side-vented intakes in that area so you can keep the piece installed and it'll still get airflow. If you want to take the magnetic dust filter off the front you'll get even better airflow. The dust filters are really effective.

I am referring to this:
700

In the walkthrough that Jeff gives, he removes a panel the is covering these fans (sorry, it's not a slider, my mistake). My concern is whether these fans will suffocate or not with this panel in place. I know the obvious answer would be 'we would not have released it that way if it does not work', but some assurance of this before I consider purchasing would be nice smile.gif. If this is the 'latched door' that you are referring to, then my query has been answered.

You own a CM 690, which cost around $99 on release; yet you claim these 2 cases should not cost more than $30 despite their rich list of features.
Go be a hater somewhere else.

I had a case before with a front fan totally blocked by the case front, but had side intakes. It worked perfectly fine with good airflow.

Yeah, if you look closely at the picture, you can see the side vents that are intakes when the latched door is installed. They're very wide and open, so you can get a significant amount of air through them. But if you want to remove the door it wouldn't hurt performance any, it'd just be a bit louder and uglier.

Has there been and discussion if there will be a windowed side panel for the 550D?
