Going to be ordering these parts tonight or tomorrow morning, just wanted to run it by all the folks here to see what you guys think.

BF3 thumb.gif - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832130284

shipped - $860.26

Reason it's so expensive... is because tax is almost $60... that's California for you. Anyway my budget was originally $700 to build a budget gaming rig (to include monitor, and input devices) that would be BF3/Skyrim/MW3 ready.. went a little over but whatever. I'm open to ideas!

edit - btw I'm not overclocking right off the bat so I'm sticking with the stock heatsink for now.

I would recommend this card over your VisionTek just because XFX has a lifetime warranty thing

You might want to look into an i3 1155 set up so you can drop in a ivy bridge cpu later on. The 960t has a lot of headroom though, that's its advantage over the i3.

You should look for a graphics card with 2gb of vram also.

This specific 960T unclocks to 6 cores and still has overclocking potential, plus I've never built an AMD system.. kinda looking forward to it.

Something to think about...

Isn't my video card a little better than that? Plus after you add in monitor and peripherals it's around the same price.

Edit - I'm the worst about double posting... doh.gif

You should look for a graphics card with 2gb of vram also.

vram is negligable, a couple of cheap 1gb cards stomp flag ship cards with 2 and 3gb, excluding the 7970 of course. most of the time the gpu cant utilize the additional vram, gpu bottleneck. and an i3 z68 build would be more expensive, though it would be a much better choice.

the i3 2120 is on par in gaming with the 2500k, dosnt bench as nice no, but is more than capable in gaming. my budget build has 2 6850s and an i3 2120, plays bf3 at 40-60 fps average, med/high settings with the ultra texture pack. rage max settings at 60-80 fps avg, and AVP max with dx11 aspects enabled at 150+ fps avg

and no you dont have as much headroom on the i3s but i think it comes down to the board for those, intel says the i3 2120 (3.3ghz stock) wont go past 3.50ghz and mine is sitting at 3.524ghz, i up the bclk by .1 every other day or so to see if its going to crack.... 24/7 system too.

better dvd writer, not oem so it should have your cables and other things with it as apposed to buying them seperately.

If you are trying to maintain a budget, have you thought about maybe a micro atx build with an APU instead of CPU and Video card. I modified the HTPC I spec'd out. Something like this. Can still do dual graphics down the road if you need to add a card. Granted this is a work in progress. Also, you playing BF3 on a linux box? Didn't see Windows budgeted in your build.
