Exactly what I thought:

The limited hardware warranty for Graphics Cards lasts for a time period of two years.

If I read that fine print that lifetime only applies to the Double D card and some other that ends in "R" which is non-existent atm. All other 7970 cards are not lifetime, correct me if I'm wrong.

I think there was an issue with this one particular card where they used the wrong chips. As far as I know it was limited to that one model only.

Yes, you're right. The people saying "Derp Just register" are completely wrong. Proof?? Here is my Support Tickets with XFX.

[ 1/12/2012 2:22:03 AM] ME: What is the warranty of this card? When I ordered on the 8th from Newegg this was was listed with a Lifetime warranty. Now when I check I see 2 years on Newegg, and I can find no information on your site. If this is true I feel as though I have been cheated as I canceled a Order for a Gigabyte card for $10 less with a 3 year warranty for this XFX. how can you make this right?

[XFX REP1/12/2012 3:10:45 PM] Hi Thomas, These are indeed a 2 year warranty, with the 7000 series cards only the units with a Dual Fan or the part numbers ending in R will have the lifetime warranty with registration in 30 days, all the other models are going to have a 2 year warranty. - Erik

[ 1/12/2012 4:37:35 PM ME: So then I should contact Newegg about the return basically after being Mislead, or is there a way I could Upgrade my warranty with XFX and possible pay the difference? Because With the XFX model being priced $10 higher one would figure you pay the premium for the Lifetime warranty, however this is a reference card and all manufacturers are the same, I do not feel as though this model is worth it just for the XFX brand without the warranty behind it.

[XFX REP 1/12/2012 4:47:01 PM] Our brand is a custom model a bit different from the pure reference models out there and is higher quality for a launch card in my personal opinion, you can actually see the difference of specs in this review from anandtech here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5314/xfxs-radeon-hd-7970-black-edition-double-dissipation-the-first-semicustom-7970 So yes the 10 dollar difference is definitely worth it for the 2 year warranty. If this is not satisfactory for you then you may do what you feel is best but we do not offer any upgrade in warranty for that model. The black edition for this model does come with the lifetime warranty though.

[ 1/12/2012 6:05:19 PM] XFX REP, yes that`s true if I had the Black Edition DD card, but I have the Core Radeon 7970 reference card, this is a card with a reference board and the Stock AMD cooler.

IMO, their reps are clueless. He tried saying the $10 premium was worth it because of higher quality materials and linked the Anandtech review of the Black Edition DD model with custom cooler. First if I had that model I wouldn't complain since it has the lifetime warranty.
Second, that card is still a reference board with a custom cooler, saying it's of higher quality because of the custom cooler is MISLEADING in my opinion.

That XFX csr is spewing some junk lol. Our cards are "higher quality" lol. It's a freaking reference card. This is the same as MSI advertising in big bold letters, we make our cards with SOLID CAPS, omg no way. Is it just coincidence that it is the reference design dictated by AMD?

That's what I told the rep. I personally canceled a Gigabyte card order I had, lost $575 for 4 days while Newegg processed my refund and for what?? NOTHING! Newegg has a chance to make this right when I contact their Support, They should overnight me the card of my choice with cross shipping of this XFX junk.

Thread Starter
Let me give you an example of why a 2yr warranty is a lot different than a lifetime one. Believe it or not, your video card will die one day. I bought an EVGA 9800 a few years ago, it recently died and because of the lifetime warranty and the card was no longer made, they sent me a gtx 560. And guess what, the gtx 560 they sent me continues with the lifetime warranty, 3 years from now when it dies they will send me a new updated model. There is a huge difference between a 2yr warranty and a lifetime one. I bought the card from Newegg when the prduct page stated it had a lifetime warranty, sure maybe it is neweggs fault, you call them and they blame XFX. EVGA has the best warranty in the business, sure some of the cards come with a 3year warranty, but you can up that to 10 years when you register it for 10% on the purchase price, this also enables you to use the 90 day step up program should you decide to go with a better card. Go to the EVGA website and see how long it takes you to find a phone number for support, should take you less than 20 seconds. Now go find one on the XFX site.

The only point OP seems to be trying to make is that there seems to have been a mis-print in waranty. As well as disappearence of reviews. I do beive newegg does reserve the right to review a submission prior to posting of reviews. Whining about it will solve nothing. Either send back flat-rate usps, or bite the bullet and move on.
In life, as with computer parts, there are things you can change, and things you can't... take the time to learn the difference.
Would also like to point out, It is almost always foolish to run out and buy an expensive part without verifying critical information such as waranty with manufacturers website, prior to purchas on vendor site.
