Corsair 550D. Thoughts?

The 550D was announced at ces today, and I was wondering what people thought of it / if they were planning on getting one. Personaly, I dream of a silent liquid cooled pc with one of the new low voltage ivy bridge cpus, and this case looks like a perfect fit. Next?

I was rather disappointed personally. Figured a revamp to the obsidian line would be something better than the 800D, as they've already done the 650D for a smaller version and the 700D as a 'cheaper' alternative to the 800D just without hotswap bays...

I'm pretty sure the Fractal Design Cases or the Antec P280 will still be better silent wise but I still wanna see what this case can do.

Now is the 550D smaller than the 650D? The name makes it sound like it...

I have to agree with you there, the 800D needs a refresh with even better features.

...my thoughts too... i would love one of these cases.. the moment I saw it I thought "dAMn that thing is sexy" and it would make a killer liquid silent box

but... then I looked at the spex: steel and more steel and alum on the front = heavy... not for me I like my alum lian li and wouldnt give it up for a heavy steel case.

the layout is just like any other case, nothing new. same old same old... again heavy steel and nothing new

one good thing though... they left out the stupid 200mm fans that they have been putting in cases lately, I dont care for 200mm fans

otherwise cases are just a personal opinion piece and you are going to get a lot of difference long winded responses... when really you have already made up you mind wink.gif

^ that was part of my thoughts, the layout of it just seems bland.

Cosair site lists it as;
Dimensions: 20.9” x 8.7” x 19.5”

With the cosmos II coming out, and it being x2 the size of everghing else, something bigger and better would have made sense.

It's already out, costs $350 which imo is a bit much for the little it offers. And not even full aluminum like the tj07 which is not much smaller and the same price. But for the $350 that the cosmos ii costs I would of expected more than plastic.... even if it's just structural plastic....

As for the price of the 550D, it compares with the Define XL, which is a little bigger. So I guess it would all come down to personal preferences. I actually held off on buying the 800D because I figured there would be a revamp to it this coming year but guess not. Good thing I decided to go with a Caselabs case anyways.

And what about the 300R?

Corsair took a wrong direction, they should have upped their full tower range up a notch.

I guess after looking at the STH10, everything changes...
