Corsair 550D. Thoughts? - Page 13

Thank you for the response. Hopefully we can figure out how to fix it. All I did on my part was to add a small stopper inside the case. Not that it really matters, as you are not moving the case constantly, and there is hardly any vibration to cause the panel to vibrate.

Any reason as to why both front fans are only 120mm and not 140mm or the option for a 140mm like the rest of the case?

The spot next to the PSU has fan cut outs, so I doubt one will fit traditionally. That being said, you could probably make it fit, but its not a manufacturer supported addition smile.gif

It's not like the 650D/700D/800D then, eh? Looks like I'm getting a different case then. frown.gif

IMO I personally rather go with the 500r or the 400r simply due to the abundance of space and features in those cases. A slight price bump if I am correct though.

The 550D uses the same skeleton as the 500R, so most of the features are there, but with the addition of the aluminum door and all the noise dampening components.

Dual 140s wouldn't fit with the four optical drive bays there. Also, 140s, historically, are not the sweet spot for noise/airflow/static pressure that's required for intake fans that blow over hard drive cages.

Is the inside of the 500R slightly taller than the 550D? I'm more interested in the area above the motherboard.

Yes, the roof was raised (hah) a bit to fit the H100 and fans internally.

smile.gif ... great, maybe the 500R is what I want as the 550D isn't working out. On the 550D, there's no room above the motherboard area, even for a thin radiator. If the 550D was even 3mm taller it would work fine, but unfortunately doesn't.

Are the three shipped fans identical between themselves?

What is the rotation speed in rpm?

What is height limitation for CPU coolers (please measure the clearance between the processor surface to the side door)?

All 3 fans are equal, but I still cannot find the specs. The 550D page on corsair.com is not even updated like other Obsidian cases.

As for the CPU cooler I have the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo and it fits fine.
