Replacing my MSI Board

Thread Starter
Well thanks to the research I've been able to do on here and seeing the not-so-stellar reviews and opinions on my MSI 870S-G54 I've decided before I start trying to OC anything I better replace it. I'm on a pretty tight budget (wanted to spend no more than $100) so I went with this guy:

Asus M5A97

I should be in pretty good shape, yeah???

Oh yeah. The Asus M5A97 is an incredibly popular board, and it has a good reason to be wink.gif

It is very stable, you can overclock it, and not have to worry about VRMs blowing up in your face like with the MSI boards. Also, it has some pretty nice features!

i just got a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P on outlet PC shipped for $55. GREAT board. lots of good bios features. and i have my 925 up to 3.8 GHz, the only thing holding me back is temps.

EDIT:i have it up to 4.0 GHz, and i have more room to overclock.

I almost pulled the trigger on that one. I'd recommended it to a friend of mine who was doing his first build and while he was installing Windows it fried. I know sometimes you just get a bad board but it was enough to scare me away from it. ASrock is ASUS's lower end line right?

On second thought, I'd highly recommend this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128519

My personal fav thumb.gif

ASrock and ASUS are two different companies.
