Is it an raid guide/review witch are easy to understand? I know my motherboard
supports some raid options..

nope you can use as many as you can fit on your controller, just need at least 2. Just remember that data is spread across the drives so if one fails, all your data is lost.

Also if your using the raid for gaming do 64k striping. 128k for normal things.

You need more Hdds to do anything beyond this.
eg: RAID0+1 which is a combo of both, (3hdds) anything beyond this is not practical for a typical user/gamer.

RAID1 will only prevent a computer from being non-functional to a single mechanical hard drive failure. It will not prevent data loss. On the contrary, due to the way that raid1 functions with mirroring, any possible corrupted data on the primary disk will simply get mirrored over to the secondary disk. It will do nothing to guarantee data integrity, and will just as easily copy over corrupted data, overwriting the "good" data, should data corruption occur. It's not a backup method, and cannot guarantee against data loss.

Raid 5 is 3 drives.

Raid 0+1 needs 4 drives

You can use as many hard drives as you want in raid 0 or 1, your just limited by the number of sata ports you have. Yeah after 3 hard drive would be a waste until seek times and latency gets better on them.

But you won't .see much of a change in your average fps.
And just to point one thing out that many people seem to not entirely realize when discussing raid arrays, raid is NOT a backup method. In fact, it's one of the worst methods for "backing up" any sort of data if you care about data integrity. It's main purpose (aside from raid0) is to minimize being affected by hard drive mechanical failures. But it will not function as an automatic backup method that anybody should put a lot of faith in. /preaching

I see. On raid you got twice the chance of failure:D But its faster

best to have 2 of the same drives with the same firmware, that way they are in sync on a hardware level. Make sure to use the same size hard drives, so 1tb+1tb=2tb but dont forget that bios has a limit around 2.5tb so if you dont have a uefi bios stick to 1tb drives max. WD blacks are also vary good drives to use in raid.

You can use any hard drives you want in raid as long as its the same interface. So you can take a 500gb Hitachi and a 750gb WD and create a 1tb raid 0. Because the raid is limmited to the smallest hard drive size so if the smallest drive is 500, the max size the other drives can use is 500.

You don't need identical HDD; but the they will both act at the lowest HDDs operations. EG: a 7200RPM 250GB and 5400RPM 500GB will act as two 5400RPM 250GB HDDs in a raid array, so it is most economical to use identical HDDS.

I have 1tb, so i'l try to find an identical to that one. But im in no rush, but im denfently doing raid evnetualy.

Thanks everyone that helped!smile.gif

Edit: So if i run 1tb and 500gb i get 1tb in raid? Belive it or not, that would be the most smart thing for me. I never use more than 400-500GB,actually never used more than around 300:D

But i prob. will end up whit another 1tb, witch will be totaly crazy for mine use:D

try and get a hard drive with equal cache as your as well and hard drive space. If you can look up how many platters you hard drive has and get a drive with a matching amount. Best to keep them a like as possible for best performance.
