Worst Ethernet Controller driver site in existence... help.

Long story short, reformatted a friends Alienware laptop "lol @ alienware". Everything was going fine up until I got to the installation of the Ethernet controller drivers. I've tried for two days now... with no success. It WILL NOT connect to the internet. Here's the name of this piece of **** network controller, also I implore you all to never ever purchase any product from this company:

Generic Marvell Yukon 88E8055 pcie network adapter.

Here's their joke of a website as well.

http://www.marvell.com/support/downloads/search.do

Further information you may find valuable is listed below:

Laptop runs Windows 7 32 bit now that I've reformatted it. Although extensive research has led me to believe it was running Windows Vista 64 bit. Laptop model is M17 - R1.

Please help my friend not have his expensive laptop crushed under my boot from utter frustration.

Thank you all.

The fault is completely your own.
First of all the website looks and is laid out in a simple and fantastic way. Impressible compared to other chipset manufacturers from China, Korea and Taiwan.
Second of all, most people do not download drivers directly from the manufacturer's website, but from the motherboard's website, or the reseller site, which in this case would be Alienware. First I'd check on that website for the driver matching your current model.

But if you're too lazy:

Download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?89ktvia88f8appa

Since this is a direct driver, it won't have the typical .exe

What you will need to do is go to Device Manager, right click on the Ethernet, and go to Properties, Driver, Update Driver, and select driver file from that folder.

I wasn't referring to the layout of the site in general, I meant the fact that they lack the correct driver for their own product, which is why you linked me to a 3rd party. Which is appreciative but sadly proved unresponsive as well. Decided to delete the hardware from the device manager and roll back the driver. Luckily that worked, not sure how but I'm not complaining. Thanks anyways for the help.

They merely make the chip on the NIC, not the NIC. thumb.gif

I did not link you to a third party by the way, I downloaded the driver from the Marvell site and uploaded it to mediafire for you since I cannot link you directly to the driver you needed on the site.

Marvell Yukon makes great NIC's and products, and their drivers are top notch too. You should be using their drivers any ways; they add lots of nice features with their drives, such as cable tests, and lots of other options and tools.
